[lace] white?

2006-10-03 Thread Jo Falkink
almost has a blue-ish tinge to it. I am just hoping it will be the same
colour when the project is finished! :)

Don't take too much time!

It took me a few summer hollidays to finnish Tamara's Milanese desin of
Durga Ma.

The paisleys and center part of the onion are the oldest parts and
discoulored. I'm tempted to bleach it but wouldn't that affect the metallic
(madeira)? I suppose I have to make a sample to try. BTW, The face is not
final.

[lace] lace activities

2006-10-03 Thread Diane Williams
I have been working exclusively on my Ipswich edging. I now have 94 inches. I
don't have a goal, but three yards would probably be a long enough length to do
something with it. I have an itch to start some 's Gravenmoerse bookmarks
again to keep on hand for gifts.

I've been busy knitting socks for Christmas and birthday gifts.

I've also been tatting animals from Jane Eborall's website. I've done a
couple of giraffes, a couple of flamingos, a mama elephant and baby elephant.

In November, the West Michigan Lace Group plans to demo at the
Kalamazoo Valley Museum Festival of Arts. The KVM is a children's
museum, and the organizers want to have a full range of crafts. We
demo'd there last year, and we enjoyed it as much as the kids. We
will have tatting, knitted lace, and I plan to bring my bobbin lace
pillow again.

I am still working the lace on my temporary bolster pillow, I like the
bolster very much. Someone from the list suggested I pin a small bag
of pebbles to the back to stop it from rolling toward me. It worked
like a charm, and I keep working on the edging occasionally.

I am trying to teach myself Milanese Lace, and have started a
'sampler'. I am getting used to finer threads and tensioning without
all the pins I used in Torchon lace. My sampler is not perfect, the
edges wobble and I have a few twisted threads, but I think I can see
progress, and that is what I'm aiming for.

I update my lace blog whenever I turn a corner, not as often as I'd
like because I've started knitting socks and wristers for birthdays
and Christmas gifting.

Well, the summer is over - hope you had a good one - and we finally
got round to updating the Lace Guild's website. Some of the events
have been updated, and there are extracts from the July (sic) issue
of Lace (if you want it sooner you have to become a member).

[lace] Last Commerative Message

2006-10-03 Thread JIM PRUITT
Hi all,
I want to let you all know that I will not be doing the commeratives
anymore. It's taking more time than I have, and I just have not been able
to do it to my satisfaction the last couple of years. I wanted to let you
all know so if someone else wants to do this, they would have enough lead
time to get things going.
Thanks
