but I must say that the
more I look at this pattern, the more I want to make it! Was that
something that went into the planning of the calendar? The earlier the
date in December, the more the pattern is seen, the more the desire to
have a go at making it?

I'm afraid you overestimate our cunning. What with spreading the
puzzle clues and patterns over the month, reserving the 'special
days' for appropriate pictures, and trying to prevent colour
repetitions and clashes, there's little scope for Machiavellian
strategems.

That said, we're glad the pattern intrigues you, hope you have an
enjoyable Christmas and that 2007 will be kinder to you than 2006 has
been.

[lace] 2006 Christmas Card Exchange website open

2006-12-19 Thread Jenny Brandis

Hello one and all

I am hoping that I have received all the cards to be added to the
Arachne 2006 Christmas Card exchange pages and that each of you have
received your cards by now. If you have not received your card,
please hold off looking at the site until you do, as it can spoil the
surprise if you know in advance what is coming.

There are 27 cards spread over 4 pages - each photo has been resized
using the free Microsoft download Image Resizer, (you can read more
about that on the site) If you feel they need to be available at the
original (usually much larger) size, please email me. I have tried to
allow for slower dialup connections but it is a picture area so the
first time you access the pages, they will be much slower to load on
your screen. Once your browser has the photos in its cache, it will
be faster :)

Please take the time to read the first page you come to, it will make
some of the rest more understandable :) Otherwise, please enjoy

[lace] Christmas card exchange site

2006-12-19 Thread the Mouzons
Congratulations to all who took part and have their laces posted so
far!! The work is beautiful!! I love lace designs for
Christmas...snowflakes, stars, angels, and candy canes all look prettier
in lace! Jenny, you did a wonderful job posting the pieces...such nice
large pictures! I wanted to take part this year, but just couldn't. I
do hope to do it again next year though.
Once again...the hard work that went into the lace pieces shows. The
cards are lovelyand it all puts me in a wonderful Christmas mood.
Thank you to all...I feel as if I was also a recipient!!

[lace] Christmas Greetings from Bev

2006-12-19 Thread bevw
Hi lace friends all

As some of you know, there was quite a storm in the Pacific Northwest area,
and more promised. Such a promise...
Throughout the ordeal I was sustained by a pretty machine lace angel made by
a friend. The ochre colour is unusual for Christmas, in my experience, but I
liked it so much I made a bell motif from one of Brigitte Bellon's books,
using a similar colour. The two lace pieces are part of my lace Christmas
'card' posted at my blog, url below. If you prefer, go right to the piccy
at this addy:

The best of the season to everyone, may all you want for Christmas come true
:D

[lace] Retreat

2006-12-19 Thread CLIVE Rice
May I take this forum to wish my Lacemaking friends all over the world the
Best of Holiday Wishes whatever your beliefs may or may not be. May you
prosper in 2007 and do make time for lace.

As my Subject indicates, I want to bring to your attention the lacemaking
retreat offered at Sweet Briar College in central Virginia, near
Lynchburg, at the Eastern base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. What a
delightful, beautiful setting for this retreat! It will be held July 15
through July 21, 2007.

Sweet Briar has a beautiful campus with all the amenities one would expect
to find at a private women's college and they have made available their
facilities for this Retreat. The instructors engaged are well known and
experts in their field. There is also a lace collection on Campus. Lacy
Susan will vend.

The cut-off date for registration is January 1, 2007, but I have heard that
the cut-off will be changed if one contacts Clay Blackwell at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Clay will answer any questions you have and can
also give you the URL for the brochure. Sorry I don't have that at hand
right now.

Happy Lacemaking,
Betty Ann in Roanoke, Virginia USA who with be traveling with Friend Husband
in RV-W/-Saturn-in-tow enroute to IOLI in Tulsa. Sorry Clay!

[lace] Re: Santa

2006-12-19 Thread Janice Blair
Hi Charlotte and all Arachne,
As I have had a number of requests for the
Santa pattern, our guild webmistress is working on putting the pattern on our
webpage as a present to you all. Either I or Susie Johnson will tell you when
it is up. At the moment I get the title but page not found, so give it a
while. I am off to France on Thursday for the holidays. We are renting a
house so our families can come from England and we can visit with our DD who
is teaching near Rouen, so I wish you all a Happy Christmas and Joyeux Noel.

I read that you had included the
Santa pattern in an attachment to Sherry. Would it be possible to send me one
also? The attachment was deleted by my security program.

Than you in
advance,

[lace-chat] Fwd: The Old man and God

2006-12-19 Thread Cherry Knobloch

The Old Man and God

An 80-year-old man goes for a physical. All of his
tests come back
with normal results. The doctor says, George,
everything looks great. How are
you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at
peace with God?

George replies, God and I are tight. He knows I
have poor eyesight. So
he's fixed it so when I get up in the middle of
the night to go to
the bathroom, poof! The light goes on. When I'm
done, poof! The light
goes off.

Wow, that's incredible, the doctor says.

A little later in the day, the doctor calls
George's wife. Ethel,
he says, George is doing fine! But I had to call
you because I'm in awe
of his relationship with God. Is it true that he
gets up during the
night and poof! The light goes on in the bathroom,
and when he's done, poof!
The light goes off?

Oh my God! Ethel exclaims. He's peeing in the
refrigerator again!
