[lace] Blessing of the Convict Bonnets
Dear Friends, Here's another forward the those Convict Bonnets David in Ballarat From: Marg Hope [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: M F H S Blessing of the Bonnets Hi All. We had our Blessing of the Bonnets today at our beautiful Mollymook Beach. What a fantastic day!! I recommend every society involved in the Roses of the Heart project to organise sewing bees and publish it in your local newspaper. Organise a blessing. The media response was fantastic. We invited our Member of Parliament and our Mayor. The local Baptist Pastor conducted the blessing. It was filmed by Department of Environment and WIN TV. This blessing was great for Christina Henri and her Roses of the Heart Project. The deadline in rapidly approaching. Let's show the world how easy it is to produce 25,266 bonnets in honour of our convict ancestors. - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[lace] Pag Lace
Does anyone know where examples of Pag lace can be purchased? Thanks, Laurie Dear Laurie, A couple weeks ago, I recommended to crocheters the book A Living Mystery --- The International Art History of Crochet, by Annie Louise Potter, published in 1990, ISBN 1-879409-00-3. On pages 140-141, Potter writes about Pag in 7 paragraphs, with a color photo of her kneeling and talking to a crochet worker. Here is some information from the Pag text: Of particular interest to the history of both lace and crochet is the Adriatic island of Pag. A tiny dot on the map, this rocky and barren land off the coast of Yugoslavia and directly exposed to the cold winds sweeping down from Mt. Velebit, has been a center for the lace art for over 400 years. Indeed, the whole economy of Pag has consistently depended upon the making of fine lace and also crochet for longer than perhaps any other community in the Western World. It is unique. Special. Very old. And: Truly a 'Crochet Village', Pag depends on its lace-making and crochet for its daily economic needs as well as its annual incometoday's distributions have dwindled to the collectors and tourists who frequent the island in season. A traveler walking any lane or avenue in the village will see the men and women of Pag sitting in their doorways making lace and crochet pieces that they proudly display and sell. To view: St. Mary's Church at the center of the town has maintained a complete collection of what its people do best, crochet and lace. (Per Potter) If you Google Lace in St. Mary's Church, Pag, Croatia, there are several sites that may give more information of interest to you. [lace] RE:Seven Competition Visitors Award
Jacquie said I know she won't 'blow her own trumpet' but I am happy to do it for her. Thank you to everyone who voted for her! She certainly wouldn't. That's Jill for you. I am so pleased for her it truly is a beautiful piece of lace and I aspire to creating work as lovely as hers. One day maybe... Wonderful news Claire Kent (UK) Lucky enough to be in the same class as Jill and to have seen the progress of her masterpieces. - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[lace-chat] :) Fwd: The Golfer and the Leprechaun
OK... a teeny-tad iffy, but a good joke, with a 'sharp turn in the punch line. Which, to me, trumps all PC considerations... From: D.C. An American golfer playing in Ireland hooked his drive into the woods. Looking for his ball, he found a little Leprechaun flat on his back, a big bump on his head and the golfer's ball beside him. Horrified, the golfer got his water bottle from the cart and poured it over the little guy, reviving him. Arrgh! What happened? the Leprechaun asked. I'm afraid I hit you with my golf ball, the golfer says. Oh, I see. Well, ye got me fair and square. Ye get three wishes, so whaddya want? Thank God, you're all right! the golfer answers in relief. I don't want anything. I'm just glad you're OK, and I apologize. And the golfer walks off. What a nice guy, the Leprechaun says to himself. I have to do something for him. I'll give him the three things I would wanta great golf game, all the money he ever needs, and a fantastic sex life. A year goes by (as it does in stories like this) and the American golfer is back. On the same hole, he again hits a bad drive into the woods and the Leprechaun is there waiting for him. Twas me that made ye hit the ball here, the little guy says. I just want to ask ye, how's yer golf game? My game is fantastic! the golfer answers. I'm an internationally famous golfer now. He adds, By the way, it's good to see you're all right. Oh, I'm fine now, thankye. I did that fer yer golf game, you know. And tell me, how's yer money situation? Why, it's just wonderful! the golfer states. When I need cash, I just reach in my pocket and pull out $100.00 bills I didn't even know were there! I did that fer ye also. And tell me, how's yer sex life? The golfer blushes, turns his head away in embarrassment, and says shyly, It's OK. C'mon, c'mon now, urged the Leprechaun, I'm wanting to know if I did a good job. How many times a week? Blushing even more, the golfer looks around then whispers, Once, sometimes twice a week. What?? responds the Leprechaun in shock. That's all? Only once or twice a week? Well, says the golfer, I figure that's not bad for a Catholic priest in a small parish. -- Tamara P Duvallhttp://t-n-lace.net/ Lexington, Virginia, USA (Formerly of Warsaw, Poland) To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
