[lace] Christmas cards
I have received a lovely card from Merlene in Denver, it contains a circular ornament in gold and white, the same colours as all my other tree ornaments so it will come off the card and be used each year on the tree. Thank you Merlene. I have just sent Jenny a scan of the pattern I used for my card to Merlene. [lace] Lace making?
Hi All, And Happy Holidays!! I know some of us are available, either not celebrating Christmas or having quiet holidays. DH and I will be home and it will be quiet and we're happy about that. Lacy news is that I made Battenberg squares about 5 by 5 (13cm x 13cm) and put them in plexiglass (plastic) trivets for gifts for a few people. They looked quite nice though it took me a while to get the finishing done. A friend co-owns a frame shop and he cut me a beautiful piece of mat board covered by Ultra Suede. I couldn't close the frame on it so I cut it smaller and still couldn't close the frame. I ended up using some fabric instead, then I could get the back to close! The trivets aren't spectacular but they look pretty good and made nice gifts for 4 couples! Don't know if they will be appreciated or not VBG. It was fun to use different stitches on the four lace pieces and see how that worked. Some were quite successful! Any other lace gifts made? The Battenberg took me 2 or 3 hours each so it was quite enjoyable. I know BL and NL take much more time! Actually I made small NL flowers a few years ago for gifts. I forced everyone to be appreciative then VBG. Love to you all, Jane in Vermont, USA where it was over freezing and some of the snow has melted, it will still be a very white Christmas. [lace] Most recent update of card exchange patterns
This year has been a wonderful lace making year with the Card Exchange Pattern Book growing to 10 pages Patterns have been provided by: Janice Blair came up with a reindeer Elizabeth Atkinson made Torchon circles Daphne Martin presented us with a bauble Sue Clothiers designed a snowman and his poem Jeanette Fischer made a poinsettia with leaves Ilske Thomsen has a wonderful double star pattern And Brenda Paternoster gave us freeform Torchon lace All of these patterns are available on the free PDF download www.brandis.com.au/2007/downloads/patterns.pdf but please remember that the file size is now over 2MB and will take a while if you are not on broadband internet. Is there a call for me to do each pattern in its own PDF? That would make the individual downloads much smaller but it would mean having to download a total of 7 files. I would like to express the appreciation of all lacemakers to these generous ladies, thank you for sharing. Happy Christmas, everyone! I've wrapped all the presents, DD1 has come to stay with DH me for a couple of days, we're all three going to DD2's (DSIL's) for Christmas Day, and I think I've finally got ahead of myself ... or at least caught up. G I wish you all everything you wish for yourselves, and enough health and happiness to enjoy it. Love to all, Margery.
