[lace] Its been a while coming

2013-08-21 Thread Jenny Brandis
Hello one and all

It has been a while coming and truthfully it isn't finished just yet, but
the gallery is up and visible for the Arachne 2013 Bookmark Exchange and I
know there have been a few of you waiting to see what ones have been sent
through for viewing.

If you can see that yours is not there, please email me with a scan and some
details.

Wonderful job, Jenny! Thank you very much. I see that the site mentions
patterns being available for some of the bookmarks, but I cannot see how to
get to them. Please can you help me?

And lovely bookmarks everyone.

Some beautiful lace and such a wide variety. beautiful work. I am
intrigued to know how two of the early ones are, cord work, I dont think it
is tatting, but it doesn't look like bobbin lace, could it be needle lace?

Great work every one and well done for the visuals.

Hi Sue,

They are Romanian point lace and the cord is worked with a crochet hook, laid
out on a pattern (just like needlelace) and then filling stitches worked. The
cord is fun to do (once you've worked out how to do it!) and it is one of the
easiest laces to design your own patterns. There are several good tutorials on
YouTube, as well as some great books by Syliva Murariu.

They are fantastic, they look incredible. Colours great so who ever did them
well done because they are a treat to see. Of course I love them all, tatting
bobbin lace etc, Cats, such cuties, but I have not seen the Romanian point
lace before.
Thank you ladies for telling me so quickly Arachne is the best’

Hi, How wonderful to see all the bookmarks! What a wonderful variety of
techniques and styles.

I do need to note that the beautiful red bookmark from the pattern
Serpentine was made by Shirley Meier and sent to me - Jane Viking
Swanson. Not the other way round. It's right before the Battenberg
bookmark I sent her.

I love the variety and it's a treat to see Romanian Point!

Thanks for getting this put together Jane in Vermont, USA

[lace] Honiton lace on royal shawl

2013-08-21 Thread Bev Walker
Hello everyone

If I had seen this photo before I could make lace, I would have admired the
infant Princess only. Now I appreciate the lace too.
There are conventional, pleasing Honiton sprigs attached to a veiling, in
an exceptional, well-composed photograph.
