[lace] Black silk thread
I put all the names in the hat and went over to my neighbor to take out the winner's name. The winner is Janice Blair. Janice please send me your address, I won't be in your area in the very near future. [lace] Digitizing designs?
Hi Clay, I think I remember someone mentioned free machine embroidery designs for things like bobbins. Does anyone else know of free machine embroidery designs on our subject now that I have an embroidery machine? Sorry I can't help you with names in New England. Janice Does anyone in this list remember who the lacemakers are in the New England area who digitize designs for embroidery machines? I vaguely remember that Sally Barry was one of them, but have not been able to contact her. Any help refreshing my memory would be greatly appreciated!! [lace] Slovenska Republika viscose thread
Hello All! A friend gave me a lovely ball of 100% viscose Kordonet thread marked Vyrobca: Sana V.D. Presov. The weight seems to be similar to perle #5 or slightly heavier. Does anyone have info to share about this thread? It's pretty heavy for lace, although it might work for gimp. My friend had it left over from a knitting project. Many thanks. RE: [lace] Digitizing designs?
I think I had already replied to Clay privately, but the people in New England were Sally Barry and Carolyn Hastings. Their website is no longer active, but I believe that if you contacted Carolyn she might be able to help. RE: [lace] Digitizing designs?
Hi All, I have a Brother Quatro 6000D (Embroidery Machine) which has a pad connected to the machine, a built in program and a pen(also connected to the machine) so you can trace an outline and it is automatically placed in the machine's design program. The defining of line thickness, stitch density and colour are then determined. If you have a friend with a newish embroidery machine (most brands would be able to do what mine can) they might do it for you. This a trace-and-colour process which is the domestic equivalent of digitizing. Works beautifully using childrens' colouring books, but does not do anything too complicated.
