Re: [lace] Needle lace needles
Personally I probably would use the John James Ball Point Bead Embroidery needle, they come in size 10 and 12, 12 being the thinnest. Just make sure you get the ball point ones, there are almost the same ones that are not ball point, and they are sharp, which is fine for couching through your pattern and cloth, but not what you want when doing the fillings or the buttonhole stitch around the outside. There are the ones I am talking about: http://www.njeffersonltd.com/john-james-ball-point-bead-embroidery-needles-size-10-6-count.html. I have not used them for needle lace, but I use them almost exclusively for doing miniature petit point embroidery (micro point, on silk gauze that is 48-70 stitches per inch). *Marianne* Marianne Gallant Vernon, BC Canada m...@shaw.ca http://threadsnminis.blogspot.ca, https://www.facebook.com/GallantCreation/ On 2018-09-12 4:07 p.m., H M Clarke wrote: > Hi, > > I have a question for those of you who do, or know about, the finest needle > laces. [lace] Needle lace needles
Hi, I have a question for those of you who do, or know about, the finest needle laces. What size needle do you use? I’m thinking about when you use really fine thread (180 cotton, maybe). Thank you in advance, Helen (on the sunny west coast of mainland Canada) - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Lace teacher in Venice
Dear Olga, I took private needle lace lessons in Burano at Martina Vidal lace shop. They have several lacemakers who work there and at the museum demonstrating lacemaking who offer classes, and they are also able to arrange lessons. It was absolutely lovely! There is more information about their classes on the website: https://www.martinavidal.com/en/lace.aspx Best of Luck! [lace] Lace teacher in Venice
Hi All, My friend is looking for a bobbin lace or a needle lace teacher in Venice or nearby. She has found out that lace school was closed couple of years ago. Does anyone have contacts of lace teacher in the neighbourhood? Could you share with me? [lace] DMC Natura Just cotton
Thank you to Beth for sending me a sample of DMC Natura Just cotton. I have measured it as 2s/8S 5 wraps/cm So it is the âJust Cottonâ version of Natura which I had seen before. >From Ravelry and the (not very helpful) DMC website I have deduced that this is more or less a 4 ply knitting yarn thickness. Natura Medium is perhaps DK or worsted weight and Natura XL is a super chunky weight. For BL Natura Just Cotton would be suitable for a gimp in a heavy torchon, the other two are likely to be too thick for BL unless the pricking and base thread is VERY large scale.
