Re: [lace] Which kind of a pillow

2014-01-15 Thread Karen Sammie Manduca
Gon - which pillow are you referring to? The blue one with bobbins on it, or
the one covered in green - photo before the last?
The green one is definitely a very narrow Maltese pillow, but it is covered
with some green cloth which seems to be a bit like a bag, whereas the
traditional Maltese pillow is usually just covered with brown paper and then
'dressed' while work is in progress. There are also various sizes of pillow.
Personally, I prefer a thicker, wider pillow as the one in the picture is only
suitable for working narrow pieces of lace.

Just to add another opinion to the discussion on book bindings, I always prefer
a paperback to a hardback for reasons of weight and space.

That's really interesting Sue. Where did you find out about it and what would
the items have been called?

OMG...I cannot say anything else! I am simply gobsmacked. I love
needlework and I also love and treasure books, so if I lived in your house, I
would never be able to do anything...
What a wonderful treasure you have.

[lace] Lace book library

2013-12-26 Thread Karen Sammie Manduca
I am curious - how large is your book collection Jeri?
I believe I own one of the largest collections here in Malta, probably around
150 books mostly about lace, but also some tatting and embroidery (still
cataloging them).
