Re: [lace] Graph Paper

2013-04-19 Thread Michelle Norton
You can also by graph paper at any office supply store and most gaming
stores. It's useful for map making for role playing games. You can get it
really cheap in August anywhere that sells school supplies as many high
schools require it for math class.

Many multi-fuction printers also print graph paper. My epson artisan
printer has a graph paper setting.

Re: [lace] Lace and bad eyesight

2013-03-28 Thread Michelle Norton
I was legally blind until I was 24. Wore bifocal contacts. Then I got
lasix. Best thing ever. Before that, I used to memorize the colors of a
room so that if something happened to my contacts or glasses I could get
around. Now I just make sure I have good light. In a few years I'll need to
get readers because of aging which no ones found a fix for lol.

Re: [lace] Re: types of lace worked

I've learned to tat but still very much the beginner. So far with bobbin
lace I've made a short tape of stitch practice before my move. I've knit
plenty of lace like things, but nothing of actual lace.

Re: [lace] Bolster Pillow Picture

2013-01-23 Thread Michelle Norton
Yep. My friend and his late wife participate(d) in the SCA in CO. The
pattern says "It originated in Spain, but that's all I know about it. I
have found a reference in Janet Arnolds [sic] Queen Elizabeth's Wardrobe
Unlock'd to Crown Lace which refers to a crown pattern in the lace." I
don't know who the "I" is who wrote the paper. My friend said he did not
know where his wife got the pillow or who from just someone in the SCA. I
have checked a few SCA lists online to see if could find an Arrianne but
had no luck. I may have looked in the wrong place. I came across this list
looking for what whole throw meant.

I am in the denver area. So I will check out the resources mentioned. Thank
you.

I have checked out the http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/lace/, site. It is very
helpful but many of the beginner patterns have broken links. I love the
gifs that sure how the stitchs.
