Subject: [lace] What thread and/or
pattern would you use?

Hello to One and All!

Today my DD Leah turns 16.  I
want to start making the
lace for her wedding gown.  I've looked at so many
patterns that I can't think
anymore. I've been checking patterns for about 6
months. Does anyone have any
suggestions as to patterns to use and the
thread.  I've done all kinds of lace
but torchon is my favorite.

Hugs,

Re: [lace] Arachne's age

Hi Lacers
I am one one of the lurkers because I don't feel I know enough
about it to ans questions and don't have enough time to venture into
any new things right now. I do read all the e-mails and do feel that
I learn from them so all you guys that do submit problems and those
that give ans. please don't stop.
I live in an area where there are no other laciers and this seems
to be my only contact with any one who makes lace. I would really
miss it if it goes away

[lace] Thread Size

2006-04-08 Thread Valerie Stewart
  Hi Everyone.
I need to start a wedding present and the pricking
calls for a 50/3 or 35/2. I don't have either size
so what would be comparable. I have a lot of thread
and would rather not order as I would like to start
tomorrow.
I have misplaced my thread chart and don't
want to spend a week looking for it. ;).
TIA

Re: [lace] RE: Ring thing

2004-10-19 Thread Valerie Stewart
Ok you guys.
I guess I missed something somewhere. What is the
Green Horseshoe used for. I assume the plastic tubing
is used for the same thing. I was making Hair Halos
for the girls around my area,so I have a lot of this
plastic tubing. I was glueing a smaller piece into
the larger tubing to hold it togather in a ring. So
If I can find out how it works.Maybe I already
have one ;-).

[lace] Need some help

2004-09-15 Thread Valerie Stewart
I signed up for an Ipswich Lace class in October
but I have a problem having someone watch me when I
do anything. I usually have to teach myself from a
book but I want to go to this lace in really bad.
My question is : is there some instructions and
patterns for a beginner on the net somewhere. If I
know something about this lace maybe I can keep up
with the other ladies there.
The teacher is Susan Groh aand she is really good
but I need to know a little about this befor I go.
Funds are really short since I retired and I don't
want to buy an expensive book If I don't like this
kind of lace.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Valerie

[lace] Romainain Point

2004-02-29 Thread Valerie Stewart
Hi All
I'm coming out of lurkdom to ask for help finding
Romainain point patterns. I have made all of Sylvia's
patterns a couple of times over. I don't design as I
can't seem to see what anything would look like be
for doing it or after it is finished. I would much
rather just make lace. Is there a book that just
has patterns or is there someone who needs a pattern
tester.
  TIA
Valerie
