[lace] Arachne pin
I found my old Arachne pin a few days ago, took a photo, and finally figured out how to upload to the Arachne flickr account. I've put it in the Arachne Anniversary set, I hope that's OK. It's been pointed out to me that the seller of the Arachne pin on ebay will ship world-wide. Item number 250236237408 Tinied: http://tinyurl.com/5fqw8a There's already two bids on it and the current price is £1.04. We're all guilty (or I used to be) of assuming that, when searching for something, anything listed will be on our national site. I now look at worldwide items, but no longer buy from the US or Canada as I recently bought four thinnish lace/sewing books, which didn't weigh much from Canada, for a total of USD43.88 and the airmail postage was USD48.99. So it looks like the UK Royal Mail isn't the only postal service which is making international purchases too expensive. OUCH! Jean, I suspect that the USPS is not responsible for that high shipping cost! Sounds more like a greedy eBay seller to me. There seem to be a lot of them out there. Fwd: [lace] Arachne pin badge
This was sent to me but meant for the list: -- Forwarded message -- Hello All Would it not be a great idea to revive this? All us newbies, and those of you who have been on this list a lot longer, could show we belong to an ionternational club that keeps old crafts alive. Agnes Boddington- Ellougthon UK Bev responds: Hi Agnes and everyone - yes someone could 'revive' the pin, perhaps make a different design unless the person who originated it wants to take it on again - I won't speak for them, and I don't think they are on the list any more. From experience, trying to get a lapel pin made and sold is work and expense, usually having to spend money, up front, before the pins are sold, and likely having to place a minimum order of one or two hundred pins. But, if someone is handy with that sort of thing and wants to take it on.? anyone? A cheaper alternative is to make an arachne lace badge :) There are patterns floating around if someone can recall where. Hi Sue and everyone IIRC it was initiated on this list about 10 years ago. I had to hunt a bit for it with the number you gave - it is at the ebay UK site. [lace] Arachne pin - UK
Malvary and I got ours from Roseground Lace Supplies, I think at the Bristol Lace Guild AGM which is a couple of years ago. At that time she had maybe two or three left, but I did tell some other members she had them so they may all be gone. It would be worth a phone call or e-mail to find out. [lace] Arachne pin looks like..
--- purple lacer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: What does the Arachne pin look like? The Arachne pin is a rectangle about 22mm x 24mm that has a red circle filling most of it and the words lace@arachne.com across the bottom. The background is dark blue. On the red circle is a spider web and spider in gold with the spider's body in black. The words and edge outline are also gold. I also remember JoAnn saying that she would not be in charge of commemoratives this year, but I don't think anyone else volunteered. I haven't heard anything about it since. [lace] Arachne pin and Commemoratives
I too think JoAnne said she wasn't going to do commemoratives this year, and left it open for anyone else to step in. There are quite a few of us who love to get their yearly commemorative Arachne bobbin (or two). I do hope some bobbin maker will step in and offer to design and make them. For me, it doesn't matter if there are no extras like cover cloths and bobbin rolls, etc., but I really would like my 2007 bobbin. And incidentally, if anyone has one of the original year bobbins they would like to part with, could they contact me please? I missed out on that one Noelene in Cooma [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also, I don't think she was planning to distribute the commemoratives this year. I could be wrong on that account, but that was the impression I got from her at one time. I know this should go to the lace chat site but I don't have an email address for that. Outi from Finland wrote that she would be wearing her Arachne pin when she visits the Bowes Museum and Harrogate Lace Fair. I wondered what that was and does someone sell them. Re: [lace] Arachne pin
I can't remember where I got my Arachne pin from - probably one year when I bought an Arachne commemorative bobbin. Is there going to be one this year, and if so, who will be making them? To post to lace-chat, first subscribe to lace-chat by following the instructions shown at the bottom of every arachne lace email, but put subscribe lace-chat instead of unsubscribe lace.
