[lace] Commemorative flowers in lace
Very pretty flowers, Sue. Well done, and what a nice way to commemorate a loved one. I hope the seller, (or the Post Office) will reimburse you for the smashed domes. It sounds like poor packaging by the seller. What a big disappointment. Hmm!!! I Must get around to adding a few new photos of my lace to my page in the Flikr photos. I have not shown anything for quite a while! I enjoy browsing though photos of lace and see what everyone is doing!! Regards from Liz. [lace] Commemorative flowers in lace
Hi Arachnids, A few weeks ago I was working at some lace flowers to use as a decorative commemoration of the lives of some very special people in my life, for most of the flowers I used the poppy pattern created by Janice Blair as the basis. 2 Poppies, 2 forget me not, an African violet and deep red rose and the last one which was already a made up flower. I originally made it in romanian point lace as a brooch for my Mum and she loved it but when she passed away last September the flower came back to me. I bought some deep golden thread to make a golden rose but when I picked up Mums flower I decided to reuse that because she had liked it so much. I adapted it by sewing the inner petals together but it took shape like a daffodil rather than looking anything like a rose and as she had a March birthday right when the Daffodils are in full bloom it seemed meant to be.I had some new domes on order to hold these better than the current smaller one but they arrived in the post today smashed to smithereens. Once the memorial flower bouquet was done I set about making up two lapel flowers using a posy pin my daughter gave me some years ago and I bought her one very like it and made up a flower in white for her to wear at our golden wedding celebration in about 10 days time. Sue Babbs has kindly uploaded the pictures into a folder under my name as several of you asked to see them when done. So thank you Sue.
