Re: [lace] Halas lace flower on ebay
Hello Clay, in this book you find the whole story of Halas-lace. And on page 16 you see the sign with the three fishes they use as a brandmark since a long time (it's written somewhere in the text9 but not from the beginning on. For example on page 206, 210, 211 and lots more you see this emblem in the doillies. I expect that many of you know that the Australian lace maker Marie Laurie wrote a teaching manual on Halas lace. You can see the 3 overlapping fish on the lower right side of the butterfly. They are worked in a circle. On the left lower side in the same area is a design worked in a circle. At first glance you do not notice the 3 fish. They are no fish on the flower, and I was told that they do not put them on flowers. I understand that the flowers are often used for weddings, etc., and no fish are worked into that lace. I would have liked to purchase more pieces, but they are rather expensive! Re: [lace] Halas lace flower on ebay
Hello Kate and all others, In the pice on ebay we can't see the three fishes because they aren't in it. In former time they didn't have this sign for their products. After the lady who runs the manufactur in Kishkunhalas it could be an old piece from there. Those who have perhaps the wonderful book/calalogue the picture 469 shows their piece similar to this on ebay. You can find it also on their website www.halasicsipke.hu Greetings Ilske - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

WHat an interesting and unusual piece of Halas Needlelace! > 150162952891 > Kate Henry > Indiana USA > Dear Kate, I have one of thes 3-D wired lace flowers from Kiskunhalas. The 3 crossed fish symbol is not worked into any of the petals. It is an exception to the usual - that all Halas laces made in Kiskunhalas contain the trademark. A similar flower, but with two layers and a total of 10 petals appears on page 234 of the book "Halasi Csipke" or "Halas Lace" or "Halaser Spitze" - one book, a three language title. My flower was made by a lacemaker pictured in the book, now retired. It was my honor to be invited to her home for lunch - a lovely memory. People who do not know much about Halas lace should know that it is still made, and it is expensive per square inch. The lacemaker who made my lace has been known to take the train to Budapest to deliver tiny laces. There has been history of mailed laces in envelopes from Kiskunhalas disappearing. It is a slow local train, and would take a day for the round trip. Oh! What a lacemaker and a collector will do for lace!
