[lace] Photo copying.
Hi all, I just had a phone call from a branch of Staples asking my permission to photo copy one of my table cloth patterns. I thought it was very good of them. I gave permission for one copy. Good on Staples. Vivienne, Presencia - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. For help, write to arachnemodera...@yahoo.com

[lace] Photo copying prickings.
One thing I find when I scan and copy a pattern from a book or something so that I can then prick it out onto pricking card, is that if the pattern is larger than A4, which is all my printer will do, I have to make two copies, half the pattern on each sheet and join them. I notice that when trying to match up the two halves the pin holes over the two copies won't match up very easily at all on some occassions. I have been told that this is because photo copying or scanning patterns can distort things. I have some large patterns that are bigger than an A3 sheet and have had them run through the plans copying machine at the photo copy shop so that I don't have the problem of joining two halves and risk any distorted pin holes. The plans copier has a long roll of copy paper and seems capable of doing any size of copy. The collar, Les Asters, in the Cluny de Brioude book by Mick Fouriscott that I have just pricked out is only given as one half of the pattern. I prefer to have the complete collar on one pricking. To do this I got the photo copy shop to copy the pattern as is onto a normal A4 sheet then to copy it again onto Photocopiable Acetate, bought at the stationers for a few pennies. I could then turn the acetate copy over an attach it to the paper copy matching up a whole repeat of the pattern which gave me the complete collar in one go. Fortunately the two copies matched up perfectly this time.
