[lace] Second hand lace books
I came across two books on eBay which, in my opinion, are two of the most valuable books that a beginner can have in her collection! So, if you're just getting started and want to have a couple of great books, here's your chance! Dear Spiders I had occasion to visit The Hollies Last week before visiting the 'Seven' exhibition at Dudley and feel you should be aware that they have a bookshelf full of second hand lace books for sale which are duplicated copies of those already held in their library. There were 2 or 3 copies of the Tebbs book mentioned by someone which also had the patterns in the pocket at the back. Do have a look at their list of books for sale, if you are looking for a specific title. [lace] Second-hand Lace Books (and more on RSS feeds)
The Lace Guild often receives gifts and bequests of books on lacemaking. Usually these duplicate the Guild's own library holdings, so they are put up for sale to provide funds for new library purchases. Currently these books are on view at the Guild's HQ, The Hollies, so only visitors tend to know about them. We decided to publicize them more widely by mounting a link on The Lace Guild's website, where you can download an Excel spreadsheet listing the books currently available and their prices. If you are interested click on the url in the signature below and then go to 'Lace Suppliers' and then to the 'Books' section. And while I'm posting, I will mention that a few weeks ago I asked if anyone subscribed to RSS newsfeeds, and a couple of technologically advanced Arachnes volunteered to test newsfeeds for The Lace Guild website. Thanks to them, who will already have had a newsfeed about the item above. For those of you who know what an RSS feed is (it's explained on the BBC's website) and wish to be at 'the cutting edge of textile internet news' the url for the feed is http://www.laceguild.demon.co.uk/rss.xml.
