Re: [lace] Where can I buy this pattern?

2013-04-30 Thread pam

Hi All

As Antje has stated the pattern is available in Vuelta y Cruz. Now I
would like to know who is selling it?

I give my time freely, designing for the magazine. To see that someone
is profiting from my hard work is galling to say the least. It´s
obvious from the photo that it taken in Spain and from the style of
the pattern/pricking I suspect I know who the seller is. How does one
go about stopping copyright being violated in this blatant way, both
Antje and myself are having our intelectual rights compromised.

Any suggestions?

Pam-

I believe Ann-Marie mentioned buying it as she presumed it was for sale,
not that she had a seller; her question was about tracking down a source.
Many patterns are available only for purchase, it was not unreasonable on
her part to make such a presumption. So calm down.

Hi Pam and Arachne colleagues,

Pam and I know what is going on on in many of our lacemeetings. So, no
wonder her reaction. There are indeed quite many people who sell patterns
taken from books and magazines here in Spain. A subject very difficult to
avoid and to fight, because not even the organizers of the meetings care to
put an end to this. A situation which is seen very differently depending on
the point of view: the person who sells copied patterns is really happy to
make money with no effort and the person who works the pattern feels really
unprotected and underestimated!

Apart from this, Pam, I imagine the lacemaker of the photo we have seen is
making your pattern from the magazine.

Best wishes,

Antje, from Spain.

Hi all

This might be the time to remind people that if they have designed a pattern
of any kind, that they make sure that their copyright is on the pattern and
in such a place that it cannot be taken off.

Thanks for the tiny URL Sue.
I don't know where that pattern comes from although it looks familiar, but I
took the opportunity of looking at the whole gallery of pictures.

What inspiring laces there are! Wish I could go to a Spanish Lace Day.
I will keep the URL so that I can drool again another day.

[lace] where can I buy this pattern

From the color of the card, and the Spanish lacemaker I think Roka might be
the pattern seller. Roka is a supplier of patterns which a lot of Spanish
lacemakers use. They are always printed on orange card. Their website has a
huge number of patterns. I don't have the exact url, but a search should find
them.
