[lace] Lace exchange

2017-11-30 Thread Laura De Bruyn
Dear fellow spiders,
My lace cards from Lin and Vickie have arrived safe, sound and beautiful!  My
lace tree of friendship will certainly be all the more gorgeous for the new
additions.  Thank you to both of you.
My cards and lace will be going in the post this afternoon.  I have just
completed the cards.
This Christmas will be especially difficult as my husband is fading fast, and
if he makes it to Christmas it will more than likely be our last together
unless there is a miracle cure for his cancer.  I pray for others going
through difficult times as it is especially hard at this time of year.
To those who celebrate Christmas, I wish you the best of all things good.  To
those who do not celebrate at this time of year, I also wish you the best of
all things good.  Thank you for the friendship and company throughout 2017
and may we all find peace, love, health and happiness in 2018.

Warm regards, Laura @>++ De Bruyn in hot and humid Tasmania, the little

I wish to thank Janet Theaker, Sallie and Jenny Brandis for their fantastic
efforts to collect and match us all up for this years Exchange. So far the
lace on the site is amazing so we are some lucky lace makers again this year.
May I wish you all a lovely Christmas or whatever you celebrate in your home
at this time of year and all the very best for 2016.

Very damp and not particularly nice at the moment, but if the sun appears it
will change everything.

I also want to thank Janet, Sallie and Jenny for their work organising this
exchange. And a special big thank you to Sallie, who was my exchange
partner! I received a beautiful card full of details on it, accompanied by
a self made dream catcher and explanations about its origin and its
meaning. I found it really beautiful and personal. At the same time,
participating in the exchange was a challenge to me, as I hadn't made
bobbin lace for a cause for a long time. I really enjoyed making my
Christmas card to sent it away.

Best wishes to organisers and participants!

[lace] Lace Exchange

2014-12-29 Thread jviking
Hi All, I received a wonderful lace Angel from Laura de Bruyn. The angel
has a double skirt and beautiful wings. It looks like she could stand up.
Thank you Laura!!

Laura wrote to say my silver tape lace Luna Moth just arrived. I'm so
sorry it was late, I mailed it December 5, I think, and I didn't dream it
would take that long. Yours got to me in a very timely fashion.

What fun though. I love the lace exchanges! Thanks so much for putting
this on and for the website with all the beautiful pieces. I hope more
arachnes will join us next year, it's great fun!

[lace] Lace Exchange

2014-12-03 Thread Sue
Hi folks,
My lovely lace exchange from Sheila Brown arrived recently and is now on
display, a tiny stitches cross stitch (I think) very pretty and very different
which is part of the charm of the exchange. We are all so lucky to get such
a wide diversity of lace types over the years. Lace that I would never have
seen or known about hang either on my red curtain made especially to hold the
Christmas lace (and due to be put up soon,) and those that stay mounted on
cards get attached to the cupboard door with blue tack and enjoyed by visitors
and us alike.
Happy Christmas everyone and happy lacemaking when you have the time and
opportunity.

Hi All

pleased it arrived OK Jane!

The snowflake is from a pattern by Christine Springett, entitled
Snowflakes!! I fell in love with it at Pudsey Rally in October of this year,
and couldn't resist sending it to my 'swappers'! I do intend making it in as
many variations of white, glitter, iridescent, etc that I can lay my fingers
on!!

[lace] lace exchange

2009-12-10 Thread Sue
I recently received a lovely piece of lace in the form of a bobbin lace star
which was to be used to cover a bauble and a tatted circle to complete the
cover. It is really pretty and now on the bauble and hanging with my
decorations. I added a photo of it complete in my webshots album under
hurwitzend. I also took a photo of this years display of lace. It outgrew my
tree so is now attached to the cover on a glass door panel. Some my pieces
but also some lovely exchange pieces.

I loved Penes little angel:-) very cute.

[lace] lace exchange

2008-12-18 Thread Sue
Yesterday I received my lovely lace exchange from Alice Howell, a pretty,
clever piece of work, delicate looking but hangs beautifully from my little
christmas tree. I have forwarded a scanned picture to Jenny to inclusion with
all the cards when she has time to add it, so you can all see.

Alice used a combination of fine threads including some silk in shades of
green with 3 amazing leaf shaped beads hanging from it and to make sure it
arrived intact made up some special packing to hold the beads in place and
prevent breakage when going through the post office machines.

Thank you very much to Alice for this years lace exchange.
