I have to admit, I was puzzled by the description of this piece. For starters, the "waist" measurement seemed completely out of line with the contemporary view of acceptable female proportions! And that strange patchwork on the end... what is that all about? Like Laurie, I also wonder what this piece was originally designed to be. Still, as a piece of lace, it is lovely (but vastly overpriced, IMO, due to the uncertain purpose...)
