Whenever I'm not sure if a word exists, I check the Oxford Dictionary of Spelling. There it is - quite clearly - lacemaker, lacemaking.
Other 'lace' entries are; Lace, laces, laced, lacing, lace-glass, lace-glasses, lace-pillow, lace-up, lacewing, lacewood, lacework, lacey (use lacy) There's no sign of lacer, although American spellings are included if different to English spelling.
