Sharon,

I do 17 Century re-enactment - I usually encourage people not to put 
lace on dresses of the period unless they are exceptionaly high class 
(we are talking aristocracy and royalty only).

If your friend is desperate that it must have lace then you are looking 
at milanese style with very thin, tight swirls - I have a piece and if 
you want then email me privately and I will photograph it and send it to you

There is no indication of which country this inquiry is from.  Costume of the 
period varies quite a bit, depending on the country of origin, as costume 
experts and lace collectors will realize immediately.

People from many nations/cultures are on Arachne.   We are very willing to be
