Sharon, I do 17 Century re-enactment - I usually encourage people not to put lace on dresses of the period unless they are exceptionaly high class (we are talking aristocracy and royalty only). Costume of the period varies quite a bit, depending on the country of origin, as costume experts and lace collectors will realize immediately. People from many nations/cultures are on Arachne.
