[lace-chat] Secret pal thanks

2004-01-13 Thread M. L. Mouzon
I had a friend over when your package arrived. At first I set it aside, but I
couldn't wait to see what was inside, so I invited my friend to look with me,
and we opened the package together! It was so much fun! She was as excited as
I was! The coffee smells delicious, and the "tea" you sent smells absolutely
fantastic! I am looking forward to trying them both out. The thread is such
a nice color and the swan made it safely across the country. He looks right
at home in my pin cushion! The roosters are beautiful. They even earned a
second look from my husband! I have enjoyed each rooster item you've sent
very much! I can see from the calendar that you live in a beautiful part of
this country. My father-in-law went there several years ago...it had been a
life long dream to see those big trees! He loved it. You're right about the
variety of views in a state. I am surrounded by salt marshes here and about 5
miles from the ocean. Still, because I am in the north of the state, I have a
yard full of magnolia trees and live oaks. It sounds like you had a wonderful
Christmas. I'm glad you could share it with your best friend. I have shared
over 29 with mine now. It gets better and better each year. Take care of
yourself...I can't imagine the weather you've had! Talk to you soon.
A very appreciative SP,
Debbie [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[lace-chat] Secret Pal Thankyou

2004-01-13 Thread Barrie & Julie Todd
Dear Secret Pal,

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I have just returned from holiday and found
your parcel waiting for me.

Thankyou so much for the lovely bobbincase, it will be very handy. Also
thankyou for the New Year bobbin, what a lovely idea, a matching pair for Xmas
& New Year. The wee needle book is wonderful, just what I need. Thankyou also
for the wee butterfly divider that I found within. It will look very pretty
on my pillow. How did you know that I have now started collecting wee boxes &
tins. I will enjoy eating the contents and then adding the tin to my
collection. As for the bookmark, it is just what I need. The lacemaker
stencil? is lovely. We never see anything like that over here.

Thankyou for spoiling me once again.

Like you my Christmas was a little strange. This was the first once since my
dear mum passed away and it seemed very strange without her. As was my
birthday a couple of weeks previous.

Sorry to hear about your daughters cat, will she get another in time ?

The weather here has been beautiful, lovely warm sunny days but it sure makes
it hard to be stuck inside working. Nevermind, the weekend is coming.

Well, I must away. Thankyou once again.

Kindest Regards
Julie

[lace-chat] New Shantih CD

2004-01-13 Thread Pene Piip
Happy New Year to all gentle lacemakers around the world.
May the year ahead be full of challenges & inspirations.
Some arachneans will remember a CD called "Lost in TIme"
which had a Flanders edging on the CD Cover & a Honiton
leaf motif on the back cover, & there was lace printed on the
CD itself. The CD was produced by Shantih Records.
Good news! A second CD called "Winds of Change" has just
been released & is priced at $15 plus $2 shipping (add 50c
for each additional CD). Copies of the 1st CD are still available.
Send payment to:

I love my "Lost in Time" CD & find the classical music very
soothing & relaxing to listen to. Just a happy customer.

Dear Secret Pal

Your parcel arrived today, we had a quiet but enjoyable Christmas and my DH
and I are looking forward to the coming year and the various lace events
that we plan to attend.
I was intrigued with the Batavia bobbins when I first opened the parcel and
then memory kicked in and I remembered the stamp issued in Australia some
years ago picturing the bobbins, and an article I have about them. They are
really wonderful and just the right size for adding to my collection of
travel bobbins - thank you so very much. I shall have a good read and study
of the article tomorrow - when I don't have to focus on teaching lace
classes, which I do Monday - Wednesday.
I'm also enjoying the selection of cards that you have been sending, the
Beds hanky corner is very pretty, and they will be added to my album.
What a wonderful way to start the week (well almost the beginning of the
week) I'm really chuffed with the wonderful goodies you've sent for me.
Wishing you the very best for the New Year

[lace-chat] Flower show... ;)

2004-01-13 Thread Clay Blackwell
Two old ladies were sitting on a park bench outside the
local town
hall where a flower show was in progress.

One leaned over and said, "Life is so damned boring. We
never have
any fun anymore. For $5.00, I'd take my clothes off and
streak
through that stupid flower show!"

"You're on!" said the other old lady, holding up a $5.00
bill.

As fast as she could, the first little old lady fumbled her
way out
of her clothes and, completely naked, streaked through the
front door
of the flower show.

Waiting outside, her friend soon heard a huge commotion
inside the
hall, followed by loud applause.

The naked lady burst out through the door surrounded by a
cheering
crowd.

"What happened?" asked her waiting friend.

"I won first prize for Best Dried Arrangement..."

[lace-chat] secret pal thanks

2004-01-13 Thread mother
  Dear Secret Pal,
Well! Aren't I the luckiest person to have you for my Secret Pal. I
am so happy with all the teapot things. The package was waiting for me when I arrived
home from an extra long day at work and the temperature had been up to 40c. Naturally
the first cup of tea went down very well. I love the little spoon and the teabag
stand. They are already in use.
The Honiton pattern and the lovely bobbins and fine thread ( almost impossible to get
in Australia )will take a little longer. I have done a small amount of Honiton and now
I have quite a challenge to do more.
 Thank you so much.Regards Mary
