Re: [Lazarus] Lazarus and Ubuntu 12.10
It is the desktop. Lubuntu is lightweight. There are 2 major releases a year each with goals to meet. The time between releases has daily (sometimes twice a day) builds with changes. We test the changes and submit problems we have. There are no betas in the conventional sense. Just rolling builds. 12.10 is going to be released in a number of weeks. So if there is an issue with API from GTK3 not playing with GTK2 nice someone (from lazarus) should file a report so when 12.10 comes out - Lazarus 1.1 will compile and work as Lazarus users need. From a business standpoint, imo, Lazarus is the best thing for Linux, so targeting the best distro for maximum quality is very wise. It is acceptable if some distros don't work well - but it is imperative that the top distros are supported with quality. // optional reading as it maybe offensive to some :-) Ubuntu is the high-end linux distro - as it compares to OSX and Windows 7. GTK3 bindings are not done yet. They will use a completely new codebase instead of deriving from the messy GTK2 binding code. Until that you should install the GTK2 libraries in your Ubuntu. I believe they are still available. Juha -- ___ Lazarus mailing list Lazarus@lists.lazarus.freepascal.org http://lists.lazarus.freepascal.org/mailman/listinfo/lazarus

I can get more info. The problems are ubiquitous. It may just be easier to wait for release of 12.10 then fire off reports. On 09/25/2012 08:15 AM, Henry Vermaak wrote: Do you have more information? [Lazarus] Lazarus on Ubuntu 12.10 daily x64
Using svn lazarus trunk on Ubuntu 12.10 x64 daily has been problematic. It's pretty much crashing everywhere. From selecting forms to positioning elements. Pixbuf exceptions everywhere. I've had issues with lazarus for a while now just waiting for some improvements to use it. I had much success with previous checkouts. Downloading Debian from lazarus.freepascal.org and installing on 12.10 does not work either :-) I'll file some reports but just a heads up to lazarus team that 12.10 is rapidly approaching. -- Andrew Brunner Aurawin LLC 512.574.6298 http://aurawin.com/ Aurawin is a great new place to store, share, and enjoy your photos, videos, music and more. -- ___ Lazarus mailing list Lazarus@lists.lazarus.freepascal.org http://lists.lazarus.freepascal.org/mailman/listinfo/lazarus
