Better than the current Logo, I myself expected something less static, a
bit like the leaf in

http://www.erdgas.ch/typo3conf/ext/sitepackage/theme/preset/image/logos/logo_print_de.gif

But then it's already used and yours is definitely a good one. What
about TUX in the logo to show the roots of the project?

cheers

David,
Very nice indeed. Much better than the poor attempts I was able to generate.

Hi kp (and Martin Hejl who I see has also replied positively),

I too find it looks better as time passes. Maybe the zoom is too big on
the Wiki main page; I have just scaled it down a little.

As a comparison I have updated the Wiki sidebar logo with just the
graphic, which seems a little "bare" by comparison to the version with
the text. We could add the LEAF text below the graphic, which would also
make it roughly square.

(Note that it is trivial to revert to the old Wiki sidebar logo, which
is still there as the previous version of the sidebar logo file.)

Re: [leaf-devel] LEAF Project Logo - Time for an update?

2012-05-15 Thread Martin Hejl
Hi David,

of course, I'm only speaking for myself - but I like the logo very much.
Very generic and simple. To me, it brings across the idea of a framework
nicely, and the "leaf" idea is very well incorporated as well.

So speaking for myself, I'd be very happy with that logo for LEAF.

Hi David;

I'm (positively) surprised of the result.

My first impression is that I like the move to a green colorization. The
logo itself also expresses a sort of "linking networks".
I also like the "underline" I'm not shure about "LEAF" being that
prominent/huge. But without it, it may look "empty", and something
smaller might have been tested by the author...

To summarize: As longer I look at it, the more I like it. And the
possibility to just use logo itself, or the full one - when appropriate
- gives enough freedom.

My commission for a new logo at freelancer.co.uk has been completed.
The graphic artist came up with a logo to try to emphasize the "leaf"
and "framework" aspects, and also something that is different from other
"leaf" logos. (Do a Google Images search for "leaf logo" and you get a
*lot* of hits!)

I have the full vector-format source for the graphics and have been
assigned full copyright (but I will release under the Creative Commons
Attribution-ShareAlike license). Before I upload to the "leaf/leaf" Git
repository I want to check how the rest of you like the new artwork.

I have uploaded a .png version of the full logo to our Wiki and
(temporarily) added it to the Main Page:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/leaf/index.php?title=Main_Page

I'm also thinking of removing the text and using just the graphic
portion in some places (e.g. the Wiki sidebar).

What do you think? I won't be offended (much) if you don't like it :-)
