RE: [leaf-user] Dialup PPP server for Bering uClibc
A good place to start is here http://leaf-project.org/doc/howto/pppserver.html I did this under Dachstein and it worked, also under Bering 1. I am about to do under 2.2 like you so maybe we ciould share experience. I know under Bering 1.x the major issue I had was with Shorewall, not so much trouble with it, but understanding it and being able to configure it properly to have a separate ppp zone. There is a secret here to find. I will try and look back in my mail archives, I have it there somewhere. I remember saying thanks to Tom Eastep at the time so that may be a good place to start. Has anyone created a HOWTO on this? I searched but did not find. If there is a need for one, I'll make it. Just a nudge in the right direction to look for an idiot like me (I'm human) would be appreciated though. I'm starting with it behind my Bering uClibc 2.2.2 firewall just at the moment, but soon I may as well make it a bridge or integrate it into the firewall - whichever is best. I am also toying w/the idea of building dialup routers and selling them for a profit hmm. .. maybe it's possible . .. ;-) Anyways, mainly asking about the HOWTo info for PPP server on Bering . . RE: [leaf-user] Dialup PPP server for Bering uClibc
Mat, This is how my system is currently configured with Bering uCiblic and all is working very well. If I remember rightly, I copied the configuration files (text files) from the previous version to version 2.2 and did not have to make any changes from there to the ppp module at all. I also have a separate ppp zone in shorewall and can send you the config files from mine if they would be of any help to you. Just give me a shout if I can be of any further assistance. I can't send this until the morning now as the power has just gone off in the bay and I will not be waiting for it to come back on now. Hello, Excuse me. I can't help but notice a negative tone in your reply. Maybe I am mistaken. Please clarify: Martin Hejl wrote: cpu memhd wrote: I had the same problem. What is this supposed to mean? cpu, I believe it means, it's nearly impossible to tell what went wrong on your side without better information. I'll make a guess though. Have you used any other SourceForge hosted project repositories with pserver? If so, login won't do much for you. But this one did: cvs -z3 -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot/leaf \ co src/bering-uclibc/buildtool Perhaps the docs need updating? I doubt it, since it works just fine here: As Martin says, I doubt it too. The fact that the second command works indicates you've already logged into SF pserver before. You should be able to continue the checkout successfully. cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot/leaf co src/bering-uclibc/buildtool The fact that it works for you does not mean it will work for everyone else. True, but the SF Site Status doesn't indicate a problem with pserver, and it's working for me in addition to Martin.
