RE: [leaf-user] Bering-uClibc_2.2-beta5 - Time zone settings and e2fsck.

2004-08-17 Thread Chris Lee
Hi,

I found the answer for TZ, I search the Web and found the following pages:

GMT, UTC, CET, PST?
http://www.rpgplanet.com/neocron/guides/tz.asp

http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/software/winvn/userguide/3_1_4.htm

http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc

Then, I set TZ to HKT-8

I can now sync both the software and hardware clock with ntpdate now.

Here is Hongkong, which is GMT+8 , If I set TZ=UTC+8:

 # date
 Wed Jul 21 08:07:38 UTC 2004
 # hwclock
 Wed Jul 21 16:07:41 2004 0.00 seconds

Hope this info help other people face the same problem.

Regards,
Chris Lee

 Subject: [leaf-user] Bering-uClibc_2.2-beta5 - Time zone
 settings and e2fsck.

 Bering Team:

 a) How I can set the timezone in Bering-uClibc_2.2-beta5?
 Apparently, the
file /etc/localtime is ignored for Bering. I downloaded the
 correct file for
my time zone from Charles Steinkuehler's web site. But does not work.

Bering-uClibc uses the TZ variable as can be read in:
http://www.leaf-project.org/doc/guide/buci-tz.html

(small remark in Portuguese, ler a documentação é um bom começo
para perceber o funcionamento da nossa distro ;) )

Pls kindly advise.

I am using bering glibc 1.0 But it should be the same case in uclibc
2.2. I solved that problem, using another /etc/localtime, like Charles
suggested. Try another localtime (compiled against uclibc ?? ).
I dont remember changing TZ value in environment ... Just changing that
file... I simply took one from another SuSE-distri and copied it onto
the firewall.

b) The utility e2fsck is not present in hdsupp.lrp?
Did you try fsck -parameter ?
good luck !

No, it will not work with Bering-uClibc. Timezone 'mapping'
is one of our changes.

All is explained here:
