We've been second best all over the park but still win 2-0 - they are a really
hard team to play against - great character from us.

Doing it against Villa I thought was a fluke but doing it again tonight just
can't be.

Strong defence from us

Re: [LU] Big game and a big decision

2016-12-13 Thread MATTHEW GAYNOR

I'm a bit bemused by the absence of 'Dave' as well.
He started the first game, was awful but then so was everyone else, and hasnt
been seen since.

He cant be match fit but we could have done with him tonight, Grimes is not a
defensive midfielder, and relying on 2 kids in centre midfield the last few
weeks is far from ideal.

Coyle is, I think still injured, but Berardi is a thought

Even if we go 442 we need some steel in the midfield, risking Bridcutt so
early seems dodgy.  I wonder why Dave has fallen out of favour so much, he
seemed decent in the games he played last season and was a favourite at
Brentford.

[LU] Big game and a big decison

2016-12-13 Thread nat...@sky.com
Tonight is a big game, possibly season defining and Monk has a big decision to
make.He says that O'Kane is not yet fit and of course Phillips is banned, so he
has to pick a partner for Vierra (or make changes to the 4 2 3 1 system)
Bridcutt is almost fit but not ready for a full 90, Grimes is totally unproven
and different fans seemed to see a different player v Brighton (some said he
was good, some a waste of space)Mowatt is not really made for that defensive
role, Murphy and Diagouara are both totally out of favour (neither are in the
reserve / under 23 team today)
So what does Monk do ?Personally I would start with Bridcutt provided he thinks
he can get at least an hour out of him, and then bring on Grimesdave
