Re: [LU] Fun whilst it lasted

2017-04-22 Thread Nick Allen
Whatever else happens, this will have been our most successful season and in
the main, the most enjoyable in what...13 or 14 years. That's something in
itself, but more importantly, something to build on.

4pts from the last 18 is a worry; that's not the sort of form you want going
into play-offs, it's the sort of form that will pretty much ensure you don't
get in the play offs.

MARCHING ON TOGETHER

Re: [LU] Fun whilst it lasted

2017-04-22 Thread {broken-address} Richard Walker
Sickening defeat and listening on Radio Leeds despite a lot of possession their
keeper has not had to make a save in 95 minutes of football and that is
disappointing for a team supposedly pushing for promotion against Burton
fucking Albion.
Overall, I think it's been a better season but I think there has been more bad
performances that good ones and I think some of the team are way short of a
play off team and I think our attitude and a much improved defence has pulled
us through. Can Monk build on this ? Not sure because he has been one
dimensional in his play and the one up front is not a tactic that should be
played ever week especially with a team selection like today. Chris Wood needs
good service and with Roofe and Doukara , who for me are nowhere near what you
would call wingers or providers we never had a fooking chance. It's that
obvious to me. Roofe is not good enough, he should go back to bagging goals
against Aldershot and Doukara whilst has more to offer cannot be asked to play
as a bloody left winger.  As for Wood, well yes for him he's had a good season
but I think his lack of pace and movement and ability to make things happen
will always limit us going forward.
So barring a miracle it's on to next season and the season ticket holders get
some brass back. How about that ? Any owner in history done that ? What a bloke
! Coupled with the freeze on season ticket sales I don't think any fan can
complain they are not getting a good deal from the club. Although I expect the
'Cellino Out' brigade to find their voices again in the last week's of the
season and pre-season. Where have they been ? They have been very quiet
recently. Wankers.

that we are coming 7th
Yes, I am gutted like everyone else but it has been looking dodgy for a few
weeks yet.
Overall it has been a good season even if we were just that bit short in the
end. It has been a season when we got a bit of pride back and fans came back in
droves.
The question now is can we push on from here or will it be back to square one ?
Can we keep Monk and the big players - Wood, Bartley, Jansson, Vieira  etc or
will we lose them all to Prem clubs and be scrabbling around for players to
replace them ?
Will all the fans who have returned in recent weeks, stick around and buy
Season tickets for next year (as they would have done if we had gone up)?
Will Cellino make good on his 25% refund on this years STs or will he further
alienate the existing loyal fans ?
Lots of question to be answered over the next few weeks - will this be the
springboard for a real push next time or just remembered in years to come as
'so near, so far' ?
Whatever, it has been a season when we regained some pride and for that, Gary
Monk and all the players I thank you.

[LU] Fun whilst it lasted

2017-04-22 Thread David Smail
Here here! We're not the side for the big finishes when the chips are down
and it really matters - pretty much the opposite.

It's what I expected, so my grief is quite manageable. We're not yet ready
to go up anyway, but so much closer. Now it's time for MC to start rustling
his cheque book re refunds.

Need to get rid of Doukara and Sacko - quickly!

Dave

MARCHING ON TOGETHER

Re: [LU] Fun whilst it lasted

2017-04-22 Thread {broken-address}
Two observations to the factors behind our collapse:

1. We needed real strengthening in the January transfer window and didn't get
it. Petdraza and Barrow have really not made much of a difference. We needed a
striker to cover for Wood and a center-half to cover for Wood and Bartley.
(Cooper is useless - worth a goal to the opposition every game, I reckon.)

2. Our form has slumped since whatever happened behind the scenes caused Monk
to drop Jansson. We've gained seven points from the seven games since, compared
with 11 from the seven prior.

Absolutely essential that the owners pull out all the stops now to (a) keep
Monk and as much of the spine of the team (Green, Pontus, Bartley [who's just a
loan player] and Wood), and (b) strengthen early in the transfer window, so
that Monk doesn't have to spend the first month of the season bedding the new
players in and figuring out his best formation.

Cheers!

Sean
