[LU] Monk

2019-11-27 Thread Matt Anderson
Just heard his outburst against pep clotet accusing him of stabbing him in the
back.

Poor Garry, such a man of outstanding moral fibre!

Re: [LU] Monk resigned

2017-05-26 Thread John Boocock
My take on it is this: Monk was offered the one year contract. His
agent wanted longer. Why? Because if Monk got the bum's rush (this is
Leeds United remember) a longer contract means a bigger settlement. End
   of.

Re: [LU] Monk resigned

2017-05-26 Thread Matt Anderson
Just said on talksport that it was a little odd as we promised him the contract
and squad budget he asked for.

Suspect it's palace as he does fancy himself as a premier league manager

Can see the criticism of Taylor and don't think it's quite the same. Taylor
refused to play. He just walked out at the end of a season leaving plenty of
time to find someone

Please just don't let it be Karanka

Saw some Facebook forum comment that we should give pep a go. I wouldn't be
totally against that

2017-05-25 Thread Nigel Sykes
Sky Sports intimating that they have it on good authority that Monk wanted more
than the 1 year extension and that's all he was initially offered. Leeds
saying they would have been prepared to talk about a longer contract, but he'd
spat his dummy out by then.

Possibly, however let's wait and hear Monk's side of things. I was however
pointing out that if Cellino has been in charge he would have taken all the
stick for this however it appears that Monk is getting most now rather than the
new owner. What about the rumour that Radrizzani had been trying to get that
Italian Watford cunt to come and manage us before triggering Monk's one year
extension. That sounds more plausible to me. Get the coffin ready.

Let's not be too upset. We had a manager who made us the 27th club in England.

All we need is someone to make us either 22nd or 26th!

Re: [LU] Monk resigned

2017-05-25 Thread Andy Brown
It's hard to comment without really knowing what was said or not but we seem to
have a long history of poor competence in negotiations. I think we all agree
the main priority was to secure Monk for the next season but to lose him due to
being hell bent on not signing a manager for more than a year doesn't seem so
smart. There are plenty of ways of making performance targets that would allow
us to part company if it's not working out so I'm not impressed by comment that
a deal wasn't discussed. If it really wasn't discussed it should have been a
straight forward resignation from Monks side.

Dreamland choice is Ranieri. Italian and happy and humble enough to work
outside football elite.

OK, but not only do you get Pearson who is a cnut, but probably also his son,
who is also a cnut.

While I'm not in principle anti-cnut (some, if not all my best friends are
cnuts) I'm not sure I want them running my club.

I'd go for Pearson personally. Not exactly inspiring either but it certainly
wouldn't be dull. Karanka seems like the obvious choice now that we've got that
new technical director bloke lined up who's Karanka's mate. Of course I'd be
happy to get promotion and I don't get to see many games so me moaning about
dull tactics is a bit silly but he just doesn't instill much excitement in me.
Some Leeds fan on facebook says his cousin's dog once pissed on Guzman's roses
and Guzman said that Karanka didn't have a mangerial clue.

Only at LUFC - get new owner who brings in someone from Real Madrid and then
gets our brightest young player to sign for 4 yearsWe sell 15k STs the most for
years
Then he says we are buying back ER over the summer (OK we have heard that one
before) and suddenly we look like a proper club being run correctly
Next day - manager quits and it is back to square one - we can say goodbye to
Bartley coming back, I can see Wood now being tempted away from us (maybe to
Monk's new team), but whatever the case, last season instead of being one to
build on is suddenly just a season that was fun amongst many seasons of dross
I suppose now it will be a case of wait and see - see which manager we get and
what player he attracts but I do think Monk leaving is bad for us

[LU] Monk and Wagner get fine and ban

2017-02-27 Thread Wiggy

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39106444

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has been given a two-match touchline
ban and a £6,000 fine after his altercation with Leeds counterpart Garry
Monk.

Wagner sprinted down the touchline to join his players in celebrating
their late winner before clashing with Monk.

Monk has been given a one-match touchline ban and fined £3,000.

In addition, both clubs have been fined £10,000 for failing to ensure
their players "conducted themselves in an orderly fashion".

The FA said in a statement: "Mr Wagner admitted entering the field of
play in or around the 89th minute, in contravention of FA Rule E3, but
denied a further breach that his behaviour upon his return to the
vicinity of the technical area amounted to improper conduct.

"However, this breach was found proven following an independent
regulatory commission hearing."

Both managers will serve their bans with immediate effect meaning Town
boss Wagner will be in the stands for his side's FA Cup replay at
Manchester City on Wednesday and their league game against Newcastle on
Saturday.

Monk will watch serve his ban in his side's match at Birmingham City on
Saturday.

Re: [LU] Monk charged? Outrageous.

2017-02-08 Thread Brendan Osborne
Agreed that Gary stepped out of his technical area and he will probably get a
ban. Wagner has been charged on two counts however - the encroachment on the
pitch to celebrate the goal and the subsequent loss of control. Hopefully his
ban will be double whatever is doled out to Monk.

Whatever his motives, Monks actions, and what followed thereafter, did show a
massive spirit and unity between players and management, and I think will only
serve to galvanise that spirit, which is probably the only positive here.

Good to see HT have banned the lowlife with the flag, although the cheering

If you watch the footage that some Udder made from the stand, you can see that
Monk simply strolled casually into Wanger's path as the latter galumphed back
up the pitch after his outrageous pitch invasion. Monk made exactly the same
move that I make 10 times a day here in Hong Kong when I see people walking
along with their heads stuck in their mobiles...nothing more.

I think there were several factors influencing Monks selection today. Brighton
and Newcastle went out of the cup yesterday so I think he probably thought that
we'd be better off without the distraction. Rumours that Mowatt was sold
without his knowledge. so maybe he wanted to send a message to MC. Who knows?

Feel sorry for the fans who attended having to spend their hard earned cash to

Re: [LU] Monk perhaps wasn't properly consulted about Mowatt?

2017-01-29 Thread David Woolmer
As much as anything he seems irritated by the timing. We've sold Mowatt just
before a match he would undoubtedly have started (at Sutton) but without having
bought any replacement cover. That clearly negatively affects the squad
rotation Monk can do today with a view to Weds match at Blackburn. Ideally
today you would rest both Hernandez and Roofe.

Given Mowatt didn't feature for Barnsley yesterday that seems odd and will have
seemed odd to the Head Coach.

I think you're reading too much into this and forgetting that he's the Head
Coach and not the Manager.

Just as he's been clear that he's given the club a shopping list, he would have
provided his input on who was surplus to requirements.

As he has said, he/we can only assume targets identified are 100% as anything
else would be weakening the squad.

Let's have this conversation again on February 1st.

[LU] Monk perhaps wasn't properly consulted about Mowatt?

2017-01-28 Thread Richard Naef
A couple of comments from Monkfish about the sale of Mowatt, would be worrying
for anyone of a pessimistic bent, he wasn't asked about it right at the start
and sounds a bit out of the loop, hope it's not Cellino getting involved. When
I heard he'd gone, I assumed his cameo on Wednesday was a last hurrah at Elland
Road

"It was something that I was made aware of a couple of days ago - that there
was interest in him," said Monk. "And then I was told it was pretty much far
down the line so I can only assume that that means that the club are 100 per
cent sure that the players that we have identified and that we have requested
to come and help strengthen will be here. "If that's the case then no problem.
The most important bit for me in this window is that we strengthen the squad,
that we don't weaken it. "I can only assume that the club are 100 per cent sure
that the players that we have talked about are going to come through the door
as soon as possible. "Alex has been fantastic. He's great to work with and
obviously from his playing perspective it will be that he has not had as much
game time as he'd have liked. "But my focus is on making sure we have a squad
that is strong enough and competitive enough in terms of bodies and quality
which is the most important bit to go forward for the rest of the s
eason. "I'm hoping now that those players that we have identified and targeted
come through the door."

[LU] Monk

2016-10-10 Thread Mark Pilling
Hi gang

1st, couldn't put my finger on it, he reminded me of someone, then the
penny dropped. He's a cock a too isn't he??

2nd, my expectations summed up by all I really hope for this season is that
he is still our manager by the end of it. If we manage that, we'll have
done at least as well as we have expected.

and apropos of noughtDanny Rose who I think never played for us the
only link left so I may need to transfer my interest to the hairy jocks.
& Suspect this will be the first season in almost 50 years that, afaik, I
will not attend a Leeds game.

Thanks Dave especially, and Rich and the others for your reports and
contributions.

Cheers

Re: [LU] Monk out.

2016-09-10 Thread Ted
Absolute clueless drivel. Losing at home and he subs like for like. Mowett
and Phillips were passengers all game, God knows how they stayed on.

Wasn't happy with the appointment, 70 odd games managing a Swansea side he
inherited? We'd have been better off giving Evans another season.

No passion, no effort. Wank.

Monk, I'm not bothered if the axe falls.

We never looked like scoring. I think we created two chances - Wood headed
wide from a corner first half and fucked up a free header late on.
I always start off positive about players we sign - I want them to do well
for us, but wood is awful. You can argue about lack of service but he can't
even do the basics right. He can't hold up the ball or make simple passes.
Don't know how he managed to avoid being subbed.

Though Bartley and Jansson looked ok but hardly anyone else did.

Not sure why Mowatt was on the wing or why Antonsson was taken off or even
why Doukara is still at the club never mind coming on as a sub.

This was as bad as I've seen for a while.
Anyone who thinks we've got better players this year than last is deluded -
we had a better team when we were in league one.

I don't want monk to be sacked but Cellino is not renowned for his patience.

Fingers crossed the latest takeover rumours are true because with Massimo
at the helm we're heading for 3 managers a season and a return to league
one.

Was only joking with last email. But just heard monk's interview on radio

questions we want answers to. I wouldn't be surprised if the axe falls soon. He
clearly cannot hack it.

Re: [LU] Monk makes a fool of himself

2016-08-30 Thread tim.whelan
You could say we've had a tough start, with all four teams we've failed to beat
being in the top seven, though on the other hand the fact those teams have
taken points of Leeds has helped them get up there.

Our next two opponents are as far apart as they could be, with Huddersfield
being top and Blackburn bottom!

Remarks like that (and I know what he meant, with the 2 soft goals from
corners) will only make him seem daft.
I hope he is not under real pressure (he has to get at least till the start of
the January window NEXT season before his position should be looked at , in my
opinion) but a home defeat v Hudds could put him in trouble and, given
Cellino's past, he may need to beat Blackburn to keep his job

I hope you're right, cos it would mean we are doing well, meaning pushing for a
top 6 place. More likely, he will last another 6 or so games and get pushed as
we are close to the bottom.

Forecast remains the same, 14th and 3 managers. Seen nothing to change my mind
yet.

Very concerned by his interview. Watched a different game to me.

Disagreed that we were overrun in midfield

Was really off with Adam Pope too. Only asked what we all thought

That's more worrying than the performance and result
