Re: It Gets No Better: A 1500 in Altamonte Spring, Fl for $500
It does look shorter than the 1500 model in the photos and the new price he stated would have been one of the smaller models. I don't think the 1500 sold for just $2800. If you knew the size of the tile on the floor, you could probably figure out the true length. Dex On Sunday, October 20, 2013 3:59:38 PM UTC-5, Tim wrote: 80 in theory. Re: New Member: Dusty-Lonesome
to use the linear moulding table you need to make a feather board system to stop chatter and prevent kickback. Depending on what you need, There are people with in the group who may be able to help you out, I've bought, traded, and made a lot of things for my Legacy for my self and others over the years. We all share a common goal, that is to grow and get better in our woodworking. I feel this group is a Great place to start. I would not worry about Legacy's abilities to help you. (they may be able to , and It never hurt to ask, but I would not want you to loose any sleep over what they can or will / will not, do for you.) ;-) The Legacy with a table on the rails makes a very good over-head routing system.( and I have some neat idea on this topic that I plan to try very soon on my 1000ex.)(So stay tuned in, We are going to have a good time in the not so very far future. With this topic.) ;-) Do you have any pictures or ??? Info. on the product that you are making? I for one would like to see what you are making. Only a fool, thinks he knows everything And I for one have learned so much form the people here, I do not want to play the fool, When we share we all grow and that's our main goal. I have the old WoodChuck from the early 90s the only support I have needed from Legacy is more drive dogs and split nuts. They will always have them. everything else I can handle. I could make those two as well but am glad they continue to manufacture them for the EVO and CNC models. If you make a decision on what people are saying about support, you are telling me you are gullable and don't have the skills to adapt and overcome. Don, this is not pointed at you, I guess I am just a little grumpy today. Too much listening to all the things people can't do and why they are the a victim. Yesterday I had the Oh Woe's Me crap from some friends I thought were strong. Wasted half my day being a good listener. Everyone else on the group should see that Don is makeing a plan to create. Good for him! Don (pointed at you) you have a wonderful machine that will help you a lot with your goals. Rely on this group for guidance with what we have done, challenge us to figure out what has not been done, and send pictures of the results GBO. Your machine with the molding table is a great start, if you have the Z-axis upgrade it is even a better start. If you have plans for what you want to make, then you have already started. Don't let anyone slow you down, My last molding I made on the WoodChuck was radius hand rail 6 X 3 it was actually an S curve that was flat and then dropped to go down a stair run. If my old machine was capable of that, your fancy machine can do anything. So get out there and get Dusty. Thanks for the help ,sorry I have been slow in responding but I was out of town for a few days. I was thinking a simple cove crown .finally found a sample I liked back in Savannah ,might still make it myself because the wood they used is different species. I just installed a tongue and groove ceiling and sealed it . Trying to decide on paint grade moulding or stain. The whole house has painted where it could be stain . With the push through method the use of feather boards will help you make short work of many sticks of molding. Just make the same cut on every stick before you change settings and blades. I use a 1 wide piece of existing mold as a blade bump to check the fit before each run. Then if it is a new pattern, I will bandsaw out a profile and use it as the alignment piece. I sent this guy a question regarding the length of the the machine and here was his reply --- I can measure it when I get back in town , but I am sure it does up to 4' or so This tells you this is not a 1500, but still a good deal at just $500 especially with the motor.
