Jeff

There is no trick's here, the leadscrew and gears are doing all the work, I put
the turn handle on the acme screw, and then set your pitch you want with the
gears for the rope, depending on the bit size, I either rotate the handle 1
full turn or 1/2, then plung down and back up, then repeat. the handle is the
gauge, if its straight up or down I make my plung with the router and bit.

Magnate makes the button-head cutters, and Amazon sells diamond hole saws.

Now what's really neat, I did not do it here this time. but if You off-set the
hole saw form 0 you can cut only a 1/2 circle like this. ( or ) then you can
make some other designs of crosses and ovals.

 Hello Tim
5/8x4 is correct. its not an easy find, Legacy still sells them.  I know
some in our group also have bought some 5/8x4 acme screw taps, ( I own one) I
bought it off E-bay, when there were on sale not to long ago.
Delrin is cheap and easy to both find and work with. if you want parts made
it easy to do your self.

Woops! I see Bill replied.  and I agree... Its ALWAYS easer to take care
of what you have and make it last, rather then it is to buy what you will need
,because the parts will ware out fast if you don't take care of what you have.

I tried a search for the information I am after but to no avail.
I have hobbled on a DC treadmill motor and KB controller to my LOM.
Works well enough but I do not want to wear through the original Legacy split
nut.
What I am getting is the LOM uses a 5/8"-4 acme thread.  McMaster carries a
5/8"-5 it appears but no 4P.

Am I misreading something or what?

Any help would be great and thanks in advance,

Re: What is the Acme Nut Size for the LOM?

2021-12-12 Thread Tim Krause
Dependibleacme.com is the only source I've ever com across for the screw and
nuts.

I've also printed an acme nut that will work on the machines that have aluminum
rails. I'm still in the testing phase.
