Ok "Tims" -

We need to get ya'll's "names" (what we are going to refer to you as) worked
out sooner than later.

We started with Tim Krause (Tim K) - then added Tim Ziegler (Tim Z).

Now that we have another Tim K (Knight) - we will depend upon ya'll to work out
what Tim Knight

will be referred to as. (Tim K2?)

Tim Z thanks for the welcome actually my name is also Tim Knight my wife and I
share the google account we do a lot of crafts together so we use the same
accounts to communicate with other so we don’t over look each other’s orders

is under her name but I don’t mine if you call me out as Kelly because I have
seen a few Tim’s around on here. Just like my work we have 3 Tim’s there also
better known as Tim 1, Tim 2 and Tim 3, I’m know as Tim 1 since I’ve been there

2023-03-19 Thread M.W.Foscue
Ok "Tims" -
We need to get ya'll's "names" (what we are going to refer to you as) worked
out sooner than later.
We started with Tim Krause (Tim K) - then added Tim Ziegler (Tim Z).
Now that we have another Tim K (Knight) - we will depend upon ya'll to work out
what Tim Knight
will be referred to as. (Tim K2?)

Tim Z thanks for the welcome actually my name is also Tim Knight my wife and I
share the google account we do a lot of crafts together so we use the same
accounts to communicate with other so we don’t over look each
other’s orders when they come up. But I’m the only one that uses
the Legacy 1200. The account is under her name but I don’t mine if you
call me out as Kelly because I have seen a few Tim’s around on here. Just
like my work we have 3 Tim’s there also better known as Tim 1, Tim 2 and
Tim 3, I’m know as Tim 1 since I’ve been there the longest.

2023-03-19 Thread Tim Ziegler
Hey Tim,

Yeah and we have some trouble with so many Tims.
Where I use to work we had about 4 of them too. I was TZ, then we had TS,
TH and I can't remember the other guys nick name.
1,2,3,4 would have been easier.
I have asked the Forum guys to at least use our last initial for that very
reason. lol
Well anyway welcome and hope to see some of your posts.

Re: Legacy Design Kit

2023-03-18 Thread jrig...@gmail.com
To All,

Attached are some templates of the bits commonly used with the LOM. I made
them to fit on a 11"x8.5" piece of paper. They are in PDF format with a
ruler imbedded to validate the print size. When you print them be sure the
'scaling' in Adobe Reader is set to 'none'.

We have a library in town that has a Laser engraver that is available to
the public. I acquired some thin flexible plastic and took my drawings with
the plastic and cut the templates. We also have a plastics store in town
and I got the plastic from their 'scrap' bin so the total cost was about
$10.

Enjoy,

Jim

If someone has DWG or DXF files I can convert them into just about any
format that is needed. I use AutoCAD just about every day. If anyone wants
to send me the file to convert, be glad to help.

According to the below images of the Design Kit - it states "The Legacy Design
Kit consists of:

and it lists the components. Nowhere in that list is any mention of a "blank
sheet of plexiglas".

I suspect it was something the earlier owner added/used(?) - but was not a
component of the kit when purchased new.

Does anyone have a copy of the "3 - Router Bit Keys for easy identification of
the bits"?

A bought my Design Kit from someone in our Group - and it did not have them.

I'd sure like to get a copy - if possible.

The other question I have:

Has anyone ever taken a Design Kit sheet (round, long rectangle, or both) to a
copy shop, like Staples, FedEx, etc. and had copies made? If so, how'd they
turn out and what was the cost?

Here's an early "Happy St Patrick's Day" wish to all of ya'll!!

Three 50-page pads of 11" x 39" spindle layout graph paper

Two -- square pads of 13" round layout paper

Missing were:

The three clear acrylic templates

The 12 sample designs

The "How-to-do" VHS Tape

Question:

If I provide the large paper, would one of the members be willing to copy the
clear acrylic templates onto the paper? From there I would make the templates.

Also, if I provide the large paper, would one of the members be willing to copy
the "sample Designs" onto the paper? From there I would make the templates.

Lastly, would one of the members be willing to send me their VHS tape to copy
and return their VHS

tape?

Cole,
Do you happen to have a copy of the "3 - Router Bit Keys for easy
identification of the bits"?
If so, are they something that can be emailed or snail-mailed? If they are,
I'd like to work something out with you to get a copy.
Thanks.

According to the below images of the Design Kit - it states "The Legacy Design

and it lists the components. Nowhere in that list is any mention of a "blank
sheet of plexiglas".
I suspect it was something the earlier owner added/used(?) - but was not a
component of the kit when purchased new.

Does anyone have a copy of the "3 - Router Bit Keys for easy identification of

A bought my Design Kit from someone in our Group - and it did not have them.
I'd sure like to get a copy - if possible.

The other question I have:
Has anyone ever taken a Design Kit sheet (round, long rectangle, or both) to a

To all "Google Legacy Group" members:

Included in a recent purchase was a box labeled "Design Kit". The kit only
contained:

One large blank sheet of plexiglass

Three 50-page pads of 11" x 39" spindle layout graph paper

Two -- square pads of 13" round layout paper

Missing were:

Hello Everyone.

Let me start by saying the Google has not been my friend this month...

Starting on Nov 3 the Google web site went with the new format to all Groups.

I was not aware of this change over until NOV 5.
When I could not check on the number of posting this month for our/this contest.

So all posting needed to be counted by hand.(BY ME!) And Yesterday! I almost
had a stroke when I saw 85 new postings, in one day! ;-)

I can say this Month has been one for the record books. (if those record books
were still in use.) ;-p

The top three posters .

In 3rd place with 71 postings. is Mac.

In 2nd place with 116 postings is BILL.

And the winner of this design kit. with 125 postings is.

Tim, I will be sending you, your package latter this week.

I would like to Thank you all for a Great month of some very interesting topics

November 1st. Who wants a Legacy Design kit?

2020-11-01 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
Hello everyone.
Who wants to win a Legacy Design kit?  In the past a number of our group were
all looking to buy one.  Since I found one.  This could be a good chance that
someone here could win it.What I would like to do, This month, Whom ever posts
the most ,will win this design kit.
The Google system counts every posting everyone makes, So you don't have to
make your own topics, if you don't want to to win this design kit, all you need
to do is correspondence with the group. By sharing ideas we all grow, by
covering the ideas in more detail, gives up more to think about.  So as I see
it, this will be a win, win... for everyone. NOW lets keep this on the Up and
Up. Lets have some fun, and start talking. ;-)

There is a video on the design kit located in the Videos directory of the

Not the greatest quality but better than nothing.

Ok for all newbies out there the design kit is used to make drawings of spirals
and shapes of things you can make on your mills

Sort of like blue prints. Here is part of the lessons that used to be available
on line sorry but due to size I had to remove the video parts. And I don’t have
lesson 3 but you get the idea maybe ray can get the instructions from legacy.

Has anybody out there got the sheets with all the router bit shapes and
numbers of the bits on it that comes with the legacy design kit .my kit I got
second hand doesn't have this sheet and I would like to get one again

Not the plastic sheets the paper ones

If so could someone scan it and either post it here or email it to me

I started to design some stair balustrades and found out I didn't have it

I have to keep going to the router cupboard to check if I have the bits I'm
tracing and the number on them it's a pain

Re: legacy design kit

2014-06-12 Thread 'joe biunno' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
if anyone is up for a trade of some sort, here is what i have...a pad of
paper that has a 1" grid pattern laid out on it, with the legacy trademark
on it...the pad measures 13" x 40" overall...approx. 30 pages...also a pad
that has a circular graph on it that you would use with your rotary table,
also with the legacy info on it...this pad is full and about 40
pages...three thick plastic sheets with template cut outs that i would
assume would correspond to various router bit profiles...they still have
the protective plastic on each side of the piece so my guess is that they
were never used...and all of this is still in the original box as shipped
by legacy...i'd be interested in trading for some legacy
items...railing?...let me know...thanks...joe...e-mail

Hi All,

I was just going to draft a rotary table graph that will fit on a 8-1/2" x 11

nothing unique or interesting about the full size table leg designing paper.
Any graph paper would work.

Mike,

Yes, I am interested in getting a set of the Magnate Legacy Ornamental Mill
router bit templates.

I'm not in a hurry - so give The Group a bit of time to reply back to you on
this. I assume you have a set of the "Originals"? I have a couple sheets of
the rectangular grid - unfortunately, none of the round sheets. I was thinking
I could probably take one of my sheets to a "printing shop" and have then
produce a couple "tablets" of the graph paper. (Or better yet a Community
College where they teach printing - could be a "project" for a student. That
way it would cost less.)

Do you have an Epilogue laser cutter?

Thanks for the offer.

Mac

HI Mike,

I had to delete your post. I agreed with Tracy Anderson that I would not allow
sharing this file in the group. Tracy said he would send the file to anyone
that contacted him at Legacy. As to your offer to make the templates, I don't
think that is out of line since the product is no longer available through
Legacy as far as I'm aware of. Someone might check on that.

Bill, are you looking for the graph paper that was included, or the
instructions? For others, there is a great video under the Legacy Academy
label on how the design kit can be used..

Bill,

Glad you brought up the subject of the Legacy Design Kit. I'd love to get my
hands on one. If that is not possible, perhaps someone in The Group has the
ability (or knows someone who does) to reproduce the Lexan/plastic (?) bit
templates like what came in the no-longer-produced kit. If we have enough
Group Members interested is getting the plastic templates - their production
may be economically feasible.

I do know that you used to be able to get the CAD shapes/sizes from Legacy (and
perhaps Tim?). Perhaps you can then print them out to do what you are wanting
to do.

You bring up a "beef" I have with the Magnate router bits: On the few Magnate
router bits I have, the plastic container/box they came in has a label with
most of the bit's info on it. HOWEVER! - the router bits only have "Magnate"
etched on the shank - NO bit model number! I HATE that! Why don't they etch
the bit's stock/model number on the shank?

A related "beef": Magnate has changed the Model numbers of a number of their
bits. I don't know why - nor have I seen a cross-reference table, where you
can look up a bit you have and the table tells you its "equivalent" bit: "old
to new" or new to old".

Does anyone have such a cross-reference table/list they can scan and post here?

Can anyone explain why Magnate changed their model numbers?

All info anyone can share with The Group regarding Magnate's Legacy Ornamental
Mill bits will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Mac
