Re: [LegacyUG] How do I get the numbers to show up

2009-10-16 Thread Michele Lewis
If you try and combine one source with another but they were made using
different templates it will not let you combine them. A message comes up
and it asks you if you want to see the template numbers. If you hit yes, a
new column comes up and it has the ID number of the template. You can then
look over the list and see at a glance which sources use the same template.
It is handy when you are trying to standardize your output because when you
chose a template, sometimes you have more than one choice to pick from. As
soon as you exit the screen, the template numbers go away again.

[LegacyUG] Search and Replace in Source Detail, Name, Text/Comments

2009-10-16 Thread Christopher Barttels
I have been entering a ton of German church records recently.

When I enter these records, I am usually entering text/comments into three
fields; name, birth and baptism.

This morning I noticed that one of the words I have been entering, coningum
is actually coniugum. This is in the name field, in relation to the parents.

When I try Search and Replace, I can't seem to find the correct Find Where.

Can anybody help me. Thanks so much.

Yes, that makes perfect sense! But I'm afraid I don't really know the

I've noticed the same thing. I suspect that these template numbers were
designed to be used with the non-existent source conversion utility. I also
notice that any language that describes this conversion tool has now been
removed from the Millennia website. Looks like the programmers gave up
because of too many problems and variables. I'd be willing to bet in an
coming update to Legacy, you'll no longer see these template numbers.

You either want Citation-Text or Citation-omments, depending on where
you actually typed the word.

(Legacy sometimes abbreviates Master Source and Source Details to
Source and Citation respectively.)

Thanks Christopher, without the explanation I would have got nowhere!

For your information that is Source Detail Text/Comments. If you Search

Bummer. I wanted to compare the template ID numbers for similar sources to
check for consistency. For any given source, you might be able to chose
between a couple of different templates but they will format/print the source
differently. I am pretty OCD about consistency :) I wanted to make sure I was
using the same template for the same sorts of sources.
