Re: RE: [LegacyUG] Impossible to unsubscribe?

2009-11-11 Thread Freddy Rodriguez
Why doesn't Legacy have a forum setup instead of or along with a mailing
list? I prefer a forum myself because I can check it when I please and can
subscribe to individual threads that I prefer. This mailing list is so
active that my phone is constantly buzzing and I now ignore my phone, which
is bad because I will miss my important emails or IM's.

When you have problems unsubscribing, please consider the following options:

* Make sure you've selected the option to Unsubscribe. When you go to the
web page, Subscribe is selected by default.

* Double-check the spelling of your e-mail address when unsubscribing.

* E-mail addresses can have valid variations. For example:

john...@msn.com (variation 1)
john...@mail.msn.com (variation 2)

* E-mail addresses can have aliases that bear no resemblance to your actual
account address. For example:

res12x...@verizon.net (account address)
john...@verizon.net (alias address)

* E-mail can be forwarded from one address to another. For example:

john...@deseretonline.com (old address)
john...@mstar2.net (forwarding address)

Our automated system -- a computer -- is very literal. It cannot recognize
misspellings, variations, aliases or forwarding addresses that are different
from your e-mail address as it appears on our subscribers list. Please try
unsubscribing again considering these facts.

If all else fails, please contact us at supp...@legacyfamilytree.com. If a
lot of people are reporting this we can look into our email program and see
if there's a problem with it. Otherwise it might be just an isolated
incidence and your message will be forwarded to the appropriate person who
can manually unsubscribe you.

Thanks for using Legacy.

I doubt very much that the majority of users are on dial up. You could
provide both forum and mailing list but I believe the majority of users have
broadband.

We’ve discussed this many times on the LUG list. Many of our users are on

I have email accessibility on my phone but don’t allow emails to come in
automatically. When I want to see them, I go to the email folder and
download my messages.

Yeah but one does not have to be taken away to have the other..
Unfortunately I will be unsubscribing now to stop the spamming of my
phone.

No! Deleting text from one place deletes it in the other.

It's all a bit odd: I now see that the grey hint text in the Comments
field is shown in black in the Master Source Comments field. If I click
in the Comments field and enter text, it appears black and left aligned,
but if I go into Master Source Comments, delete the hint text and type
my own, that then appears in the Comments field in grey and centred.
