Re: [LegacyUG] Relationship designation
Hi Jim, I used to use Reunion when I had a Mac, they had an option on their report menu so that you could first select the relationship of a particular person to all others in the file. Once done, when you printed your family group sheets they would come out John Jones 2nd Gr.Grandfather etc. in addition to the RIN and MRIN #'s. It eliminated the need to go to an indexed report of relationships to find out how that person is related to you. Extremely convenient and ultimately making memorizing your 8th Gr Grandparents names easier as you see it each time you're working on the file. Hope this clarification helps and sooo glad to hear it wil be available in the new version Leslie - Original Message - From: Jim Keener To: LegacyUserGroup@legacyfamilytree.com Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2007 1:18 PM Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Relationship designation Would someone elaborate on what exactly Leslie is talking about. Re: [LegacyUG] Relationship designation
The Relationship will show how a person is related to the central person in the story. In the story I'm working on, my cousin's, it will show how she is related to each person in her family story, be it 1st cousin twice removed or husband of 1st cousin twice removed - or grandfather or grandmother. Otherwise she would look at a name and say - okay, how am I related to him or her. The Relationship designation brings it more into perspective, I think. Ruth A. I don't want to be a pest and I know we all want to know when Version 7 will be available, but if it is soon, I will stop working on my cousin's family story - it's about 3500 pages on her father's side and 4000 pages on her mother's side - and wait for the new version, if it's coming in the next couple of months. [LegacyUG] Relationship designation
Geoff/Staff - is my request to have the relationship designation to a starting person (me most likely) be able to print in reports/charts still in line for a possible addition to Legacy? It's the one problem I have because it takes me such a long time to put the relationship designation into each person I'm related to as an Event. I think it adds so much to a report to see how each person is related to me. Just wondering - Ruth A. (Sconza Testa) Nerud [EMAIL PROTECTED] Have you unlocked the real power of Legacy? Re: [LegacyUG] Relationship designation
I wholeheartedly support this idea. As a user of Brother's Keeper prior to switching to Legacy some years ago that is THE feature I miss from Brother's Keeper, which has that ability. Fact is, I still keep BK updated so as to be able to GEDCOM my Legacy info into it in order to get that report. It would be a decided advantage for a Legacy enhancement. Hope it's on (or will be) someones to do list. gc -- Ruth Nerud [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Geoff/Staff - is my request to have the relationship designation to a starting person (me most likely) be able to print in reports/charts still in line for a possible addition to Legacy?
