[LegacyUG] Losing Color Scheme
Lloyd, It probably is a good idea, although I do not do it myself, but has little or no connection with your subject! What is more important for colour schemes is to go to OptionsCustomiseColours and on the bottom right are the options to save and load your colour schemes. Now this I do, and it has saved my life on numerous occasions. Ron Ferguson Thanks Ron, For some reason, I can send messages to LUG but cannot receive messages, not even my copy of the sent message.I did receive the confirm subscription message and the confirmation message. [LegacyUG] Cannot receive messages from LUG.
Hi List, I can send messages to LUG but cannot receive from them. I have checked with my alternate e-mail client and have checked my ISP's online mail, no mail. I can receive mail from all the other lists I am subscribed to. I sent an e-mail to LUG early this morning and after not receiving a response in two hours, I went to the LUG archives and found my mail there along with a response from a subscriber. Any ideas on where the problem exist? I first thought I had been unsubscribed so I resubscribed, received the confirm subscription and then after sending it, I received the subscription confirmed mail. Still no mail after that. Re: [LegacyUG] Cannot receive messages from LUG.
Lloyd, I'd take a look at your ISP and see if it is putting the Legacy messages into a SPAM folder or possibly deleting them outright. If it is, then the only thing you can do is contact juno.com and tell them that LUG messages are not SPAM. Also, make sure that your email client is not putting them into a SPAM folder on your computer (kinda obvious I know - but you need to cover all the bases). This happened to me several weeks ago (and I think some others) when I unsubbed for awhile, and then re-subscribed. It had nothing to do with spam filters. RE: [LegacyUG] Converting Source Citations
Brian, in all fairness, no one said which decade it will roll out. As far as I know, the group really wants to get this operational, but are never putting it out half way. And the fix up time is the best in the business, IMHO. This has been out there since before/when 7.0 came out, but as newbies come in, they don't (needn't) search the Archives to find old unsolved problems, so this surfaces again every few months. Just one of those things. Rich in LA CA --- On Sun, 5/2/10, Brian L. Lightfoot br...@the-lightfoots.com wrote: From: Brian L. RE: [LegacyUG] Converting Source Citations
That's the point one or more of the Ops was pointing outthe program itself still mentions the use of the Source Conversion Tool but the tool itself still remains MIA. Using the old-fashioned F1 key and entering source conversion brings up the #1 ranked result -- Source Template Conversion Tool along with complete instructions on how to use the tool!! Those of us that have been on the LUG for an extended period realize this topic comes up every so often. I just wish Millennia would reanalyze the likelihood of this tool actually materializing before Version 8 comes out, and it not then remove these fossilized remnants of its mention from within the current version of the program. Expecting a newbie Legacy user to navigate the archives of the LUG to find something that the F1 key talks about might be asking a lot from such a newbie. Not impossible...but still quite a stretch. I was just surprised that Sherry actually made mention of the fact that the tool is still being worked on because I thought it was a dead deal. [LegacyUG] possible problem
A few weeks ago I reported what I thought was a bug but, after a few e-mails, the developers have told me that Legacy is acting as designed and they won't be changing things. I thought it would be a good idea to mention the problem here, so everyone is aware. I know it happens in this particular situation and suspect it happens in other similar areas as well. Imagine you have an individual with an event, the event has a source and the source detail has an image attached. Now, if you move the image into another directory, nothing happens until you use Legacy and highlight the source. At this point, Legacy realises that the file isn't where it was, so it goes off and looks in all its known directories, finds it for you and the file is magically relinked. You might never know this has happened. That's all well and good, except that Legacy isn't actually looking for that file; it is looking for a file of that name. If there is a second file with the same name anywhere in Legacy's known directories, then Legacy is just as likely to find the other one and relink that. Without telling you. Of course, if Legacy can't find any file with that name, it comes up with the familiar requester and, if you let Legacy search for you, it will ask if it finds the right one. I was hoping that the Is this the right file? would be inserted when legacy finds one in the scenario above, but apparently that isn't going to happen, so I guess the advice is to make sure that all your files have unique names. Re: [LegacyUG] possible problem
Tony- We do need the unique names; no, we have to have them. Suppose I had the following: 1 BrownPhoto.jpg in C:\Photos (This might be Kathy.) 2 BrownPhoto.jpg in C:\Camera (This might be David.) 3 BrownPhoto.jpg in D:\Family (This might be William.) Now I have everyone's photo linked correctly and it works. Then I replace Kathy's photo. Legacy will do its job and look for BrownPhoto.jpg. It will find it, but it won't be Kathy's photo. Had I been using unique names, Legacy could probably find Kathy's photo if it existed.
