Re: [LegacyUG] Using Dragon with Legacy
I'm assuming no response means no one on this group is using Dragon? sigh Hate to wait until December. Sherry/Brian et al. ... any other resources I can tap into on this topic? Or perhaps someone /has/ used it and hates it, but prefers not to say so? Re: [LegacyUG] Using Dragon with Legacy
Personally, I had no idea what you were talking about. Now that you've mentioned it again, I've checked the webinar schedule, and see that you're talking about a program called Dragon Dictate Naturally Speaking. Never heard of it before. I look forward to hearing more at some stage, but am not in a rush. May consider attending the webinar, but it's a bit rough getting to those at 8am local time (6am at this time of year!). :-) Wendy Scott Hall said the following on 16/07/2014 10:12: I'm assuming no response means no one on this group is using Dragon? sigh Hate to wait until December. Re: [LegacyUG] Using Dragon with Legacy
Scott, I did not use Dragon, but I did use another Speech to Text program many years ago when I had about 300 obituaries that I wanted the content and ended up just reading them in using the speech to text software. I did not enter them direct into Legacy but rather into a word file and then did cut and paste. The real key for me was spending the initial time whenever a surname came up to correct the spelling... eventually it was very good at recognizing most words, but there were many names that just never could get right. But I was surprised and pleased how much better the Speech to text was compared to around 2001 when it didnt work well at all. Hope that helps Jay On Tue, Jul 15, 2014 at 3:12 PM, Scott Hall seh0...@gmail.com wrote: I'm assuming no response means no one on this group is using Dragon? sigh Hate to wait until December. Re: [LegacyUG] Using Dragon with Legacy
Scott, I do not use Dragon, but worked with a person who uses it extensively. I found that there is a fair amount of editing afterwards, but suspect that varies depending on diction and ambient noise. I would be interested to try it with Legacy. Re: [LegacyUG] Using Dragon with Legacy
I do have Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 on my computer, I tried to use it to dictate emails 4 years ago when I was undergoing cancer treatment and I thought it might help. I never found it terribly good, or I just did not have the patience to train it well, so I stopped using it. I have never tried to use it with Legacy for data entry so I had no comment on your request. I might sign up for that webinar, maybe it will convince me to give Dragon another try.
