Re: [LegacyUG] Final Version of Legacy 8 Deluxe Problems

2017-08-13 Thread Cathy Pinner

Clarice,
I'm not sure why you were uninstalling before installing the update.
It may be that the uninstall or the install didn't work well and that's
causing the freezing. I assume you've tried restarting your computer.

Do a clean uninstall following these instructions - note the right click
and run as Administrator is essential:
http://support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00926/14/Tips-and-How-Tos/Uninstall-how-to-do-a-complete-and-totally-clean-removal-of-Legacy.html

Whether or not you then download and install Legacy 8 again or move
straight to Legacy 9 is up to you.

I think with the current 50% off so that the download upgrade is
US $13.48 for program and PDF manual, it's a no brainer to move to Legacy 9.
Note you need your Legacy 8 customer number to get the upgrade price.
Also consider a webinar membership. If you've already got one the new
purchase adds on to what you already have.

Re: [LegacyUG] Family Group Sheet issue

2017-08-13 Thread Linda Greethurst
Hi Ruth, thanks for the suggestion. I tried it out, but it did not removed
that formated Children on the family group sheet. It deleted other lines
that were blank (ie baptism date and place - which I did not have). So I
know that work on other situation.

No matter what I do, besides the Children box there is also a rather large
spacing before any of the marriage notes that I want to be printed.

Perhaps there is not an option for when a couple had no children for that
to be reflected on the FGS.

Yes you can buy and not install immediately. You just need your Customer
Number/Unlock code then you can download the free version any time and
unlock it.

Yes you can put Legacy 9 on one computer and have Legacy 8 on the other
BUT you can't use the same database on both.

Really Legacy 9 is just Legacy 8 with a few tweaks and bug features AND
some completely new features almost all of which are Deluxe features -
which is why it makes no sense to try out the free version of Legacy 9.

The only reason for not updating is if you are sharing data with someone
else using Legacy 8 who won't update.

Is it possible to purchase and not install for a time?
Also, can one run v8 on one computer and v9 on another?

Re: [LegacyUG] buying version 9

2017-08-13 Thread Brian Kelly
You will not have to download the deluxe version. the Deluxe features
are included in the Standard Version download. They are just not
activated until you buy the Deluxe version.

When you buy the Deluxe you will be issued a Customer Number. On every
menu ribbon in the Standard Version there is an Unlock Deluxe item.
Click that to enter your name and the Customer number and your Standard
program will become the Deluxe Version.

[LegacyUG] Family Group Sheet issue

2017-08-13 Thread Linda Greethurst
When I print a family group sheet, it always prints the label and shaded
box for Children.
No problem with that EXCEPT when the couple did not have any children. I
have checked the box in the marriage information page that they had no
children.

What other setting am I missing?
If no kids, but have to have the Children box show - how can I add the note
to read "this couple had no children"
Or
not have that Children box in the first place.

I like to use the family group sheet in my notebooks as a family "at a
glance" and to identify the rest of the family members if there are any.
With that children box, it appears that my research is not finished.

Now I wonder why Legacy allowed me to duplicate the marriage to begin with.
It seems to have so many warnings but apparently not one for that.
