That is more than I did until you asked for help.

I figured it must be there somewhere!

Thanks for pointing me to that somewhere

I use several of the 9 TAGs available (I have the deluxe registered
version of Legacy 9) for various purposes.

But, poking around in settings I see no way as to how to change the
COLOR on an individual tag. Am I missing something? It appears it's
an all or none choice of color!

Re: [LegacyUG] Clooz

2020-04-27 Thread Cathy Pinner
I dabbled with Clooz years ago and will be very grateful to the
originator of the software forever as she solved my filing problems. I
had tried and failed to file by family simply ending up with new piles
of stuff that either had to be cross referenced some way or duplicated.
Basing filing on document type, the piles diminished quickly.
There are webinars on using Clooz with Legacy. They're in the always
free category.

https://familytreewebinars.com/clooz

For myself, I have no idea why I'd double enter data. I guess in a one
name study it may be useful.

But I'm not a spreadsheet person either. I do use spreadsheets from time
to time but only for temporary purposes.

Hi all, hope everyone is safe, in the bunker
and staying healthy!

Sort of related and wishing to broaden my knowledge, and hopefully
others in the process…

Having delved deeper and deeper into Legacy features over the years,
and myself doing a single surname global project I’m curious why a
document management and reference tool (my words, not others) would be
required *_in addition_* to other family history software like Legacy.

I’ll take an example and maybe someone can educate me on what Legacy
is not doing for me…

Let’s take an 1851 census record in Scotland, images are not free of
charge and must use a paid for access method usually. If I have a
family recorded in a specific location census record that matches one
in Legacy, I would check that this is the correct family (given names,
ages, locations, occupations, etc.) and then add that as a census
event in Legacy, with media attached for the URL and/or the census
record image (imported usually for a local copy).  If there were other
relatives in the census record (e.g. grand-children or nieces or
nephews then I would share the event with them also, and change their
event role to match their family relationship if possible).

So, where would Clooz add value to this scenario?  Is there something
that Legacy and its normal file system access for media (files,
images, documents, etc.) cannot do?  Or am I missing the whole point here…

Thanks,

Andrew

I use Clooz and have since it first was developed. I never used spread
sheets (I've been collecting info since 1975) I used a colored coded
filing system where each family got a color and was filed by family
name. It took Liz Kerstens a while to convince to use a document
numbered system. Now I would not use anything else.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't use the software to it's
fullest capacity. It has changed over the years. But I use what I
need. Yes, it is double entry for me but it's worth the extra effort
because I no longer have to sift through documents to find the one I
want. Plus I need to read the document not just collect it.

This doesn't answer the original question. Try the support on the

is excellent.
