My feeling is that you should import the GEDCOM into a new Legacy file and verify it, which should be good but might be dependent on how longer ago you created it. Then you can create a copy of your live Legacy file and merge the new one into that. That would ensure that you do not override your current live file, though you could make a backup of it first.
