RE: [LegacyUG] Military interment records sourcing
I have done quite a few of those records and I prefer to transcribe from the images and put that text into the Source Text under Text/Comments. For the actual Source Detail, I just put the person's name, cemetery, cemetery location, and sometimes the grave location which I'm sure isn't the correct way. I don't believe Ancestry gives an actual Source Detail like they do for other sources. I have never figured out how to create a Source Detail for this source among others that aren't provided on websites. Here is a transcription of one of my US National Cemetery Interment Control Forms: Name: Charles Russell Woodson Rank: Captain Serial Number: 56009 State: California Service Data: U. S. Navy Birth Date: 13 Jun 1896 Death Date: 2 Sep 1953 Interment Date: 8 Sep 1953 Section: R Grave: 272 Enlistment: 7 Jun 1919 Retirement: 30 Dec 1950 Cemetery: Golden Gate National Cemetery Burial Location: San Bruno, California Widow: Audrey P. Woodson, 39 Santa Paula Way, Vallejo, California Date: 1 Dec 1953 Bill Boswell -Original Message- From: J.M. Good morning, Ancestry has images of the US National Cemetery Interment Control Forms. I tend to use Source Writer for my sourcing, but I'm not averse to using the Basic version. Any suggestions as to how best to record this source information? It's kind of an awkward record. Thanks.
