[LegacyUG] Transferring sources from Basic to SourceWriter
I would like all my sources to be done using SourceWriter but when I started I was using the Basic system. I don't want to have to manually transfer them all if I don't have to and wondered if there is a way of updating those in Basic to the newere version. There are a couple of ways - using Access or Ltools - of mechanising the process slightly and thus saving a certain amount of manual slog, but there is no way to have it done at the press of a few buttons. Just take them a few at a time and you will get there eventually! I have converted scores already, and a few days ago had 189 Basics still to convert, but that's now reduced to only 129 now. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergr...@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
RE: [LegacyUG] Transferring sources from Basic to SourceWriter
I've not tried to use the Source Template Conversion Tool as explained starting on page 72 of Legacy 7 manual. Dose it actually work as shown? If so, I guess you also have need to include the source detail? I was tempted to change a few, but have a lot to change and don't want to create more of a mess than I already have. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully they will have done something by the time I'm ready to write. And I have hand converted several - and then changed them back. I will stick with the BASIC format. MUCH mor euser friendly and (if done right) can give more than enough information. Dennis' Ltools can do the job as I understand, however unless you are going to publish your work in a manner that requires specific sourcing I would not worry about very much. -- Gene Y. http://myyoungs.atspace.com/index.htm Researching Young, Zies, Harer Cox with Legacy Family Tree Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergr...@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergr...@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
