Re: [LegacyUG] Updating my Legacy program . . . help please
One "clean-up" I suggest would be to review all your master lists to clean up duplicates by combining them into a single standard and by deleting unused entries. Most of the lists which have pre-defined entries (like event definitions) will give you the option to restore any default entries you may have deleted by removing unused. I am no longer using UNKNOWN! But, would if be a good clean up to just delete all the people listed as Unknown, or leave a , and surname such as ", Russell". I'm inclined to just delete! Re: [LegacyUG] Updating my Legacy program . . . help please
This very depends on WHAT type of genealogy you want to do. Roughly, you could be looking at 1. A simple tree of everyone who is related to a single person, like your family and ancestors, and their descendents. 2. An extended tree where you then grow away from the main tree by following other family's that are related to them, like spouse's families and their lines. 3. A tree where you follow any and every one who has the same surname or origin, regardless of whether are related to each other, and hopefully finding a link in the past. It is your choice how you want to proceed with your tree. If you have built it as version 3 then Legacy has the ability to identify each subtree in the system and let you easily remove the unrelated people to get to a version 2 tree. Equally, using tags you can identify people in specific families and decide to keep or remove them. It is always your choice on how to maintain your system. I always run mine as a version 2 and I can find, from my wife's side, links to a major English actor, a French author and a German politician. Unfortunately my side is much more boring, but that is life. Regards Chris >From my Motorola G6+ On Wed, 29 Dec 2021, 06:36 Cynthia N.
