I would suggest you submit this to the Legacy staff as a suggested improvement.

You can customize your tool bar and add the Ancestry.com icon.

This icon has several options for Ancestry, so it takes 2 clicks (1 click on
icon, slide down and click Search Ancestry.com).

Using the Internet icon requires at least 3 clicks to search Ancestry.

2020-06-29 Thread Andrew Robbie
Hi Roberta,

I appreciate your suggestion, but this ability you outlined affects how you
‘activate’ or execute an icon on your desktop. Instead of double clicking a
desktop icon, you can turn them into icons that only need a single click to
execute them. What I am trying to do is within Legacy leverage the replaceable
parameters e.g. [FirstName] so that I can single click to get to the Ancestry
(or other) web site with any know data filled in already.

Thanks again,

Andrew

Andrew

If you only want to click once then you can only have an icon that will open
the website rather than set up the search.
Is it so hard to make two clicks instead of setting up the search yourself in
Ancestry???
The mechanism has been provided to do what you want to do and you're bothered
about the number of clicks to access it?
You can put the Search Internet onto your My Toolbar by customising your My
Toolbar by going to Design > Toolbars > My Toolbar.

How is what you want different from Legacy's Internet Searches for Ancestry
(or other internet sites)?

Re: [LegacyUG] Anyone know if there is an easy way to configure a single click button that uses replaceable parameters in URL ?

2020-06-28 Thread bobstree2
Try this:1. Log in to Ancestry.2. Go to the page you want to be at.3. Copy the
URL for that page.4. Paste that URL into the bottom field on the User Tool
Button page, and save it.==Instructions:1. To use the button, you
will need to make your browser is open and you are logged into Ancestry
first.2. Click on the Legacy button you created above.3.  This will only work
for the page you first selected.  It does not accept
parameters.=Optional approach:1. If you are going to the results
page of a Search, you can copy that page's URL, and identify and replace the
search parameters you should see there.  Now paste the URL into your button as
noted above.  I have not tried these steps, just repeating steps I have taken
to perform similar tasks.  Takes only a few minutes to see if it works for
you.Personally I think it is easier to save the page as a bookmark/favorite,
and go to that page using your browser.
