I can't believe somebody else got excited about Flexx! Nice to see you've
also made the developer aware as well.

I too think that Flexx is important to the future of Python.

Why LeoWapp and flexx are important

2018-11-12 Thread Edward K. Ream
My brother Speed and I are excited about LeoWapp and flexx. Here are some
notes from a conversation we had two days ago.

*Goals*

Speed wants to edit Leo files on a cell phone without an internet
connection. This would be useful for road warriors. Do edits in a cafe
somewhere. There is little need for scripting features such as Ctrl-B. That
can be done later, when using a laptop.

*Applications*

Speed uses a remotely hosted Ubuntu desktop without a front end. Only a
console is available. LeoWapp will supply the missing front end! This
opens up Leo to anyone with a cell phone or anything else that has a
browser.

LeoWapp opens up every single JS package to the python world, including Joe
Orr's LeoVue. Almar shows us how to instantiate *any *JS package from
Python. He has invented an amazingly simple, general methodology to hook
everything together.

Imo, flexx is one of world's most important programming tools, on a par
with Python itself and git. It is a wonderful bridge between the Python and
JS worlds. It is a major contribution to Python.

*Summary*

LeoWapp will not be for everyone. However, LeoWapp promises to be more
useful more powerful than Leo's console gui. *Important*: LeoWapp is *only
*a gui. Leo's core will remain unchanged.

asyncio became official with Python 3.5 (September, 2015) so flexx and
leoflexx.py are on the leading edge.
