Why building Toolchain
hello I have some questions about the procedure of making LFS system? I have not undrestood why we need toolchain to build the actual LFS system . If the reason for building toolchain is just the tools that we need to build the LFS system, like compiler ,Why we don't use the host system's tools ? And is it possible to use the host system's tools to building actual LFS system ,instead of building a toolchain or creating new environment? thanks for help -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page

A book specific for this method (directly use host tools for building the final system) is already developing. Compilation pass 1 G.C.C. 4.4.1. ends with out of space
Anyone a solution for this one? I run a via epia mainboard 512MB RAM, swap space 5GB, home partition 200GB. I started compiling G.C.C, after 80 minutes it fails due to no space left on device. The device is called: /dev/mapper/lfs-cd. How can I free some space on this device? Thanks a lot Wannes -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page

Are you compiling everything in $LFS/sources as the book says? -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page

Re: broken link in the LFSbook (Trent Shea)
the link http://www.linuxhq.com/guides/lug/guide.html reported in the Prerequisites section Looks like it should be: http://www.linuxhq.com/guides/LUG/guide.html argh! it's true! the difference is only in the uppercase LUG folder. :o well, the book is ok, then, and it's been just my fault. : / or better, something wrong with either FoxitPDFreader2.3 in sending the link to the browser or in Firefox to manage the link sent by the Foxit PDF reader, I guess... _ ok. sorry. : P y. -- http://yayoblog.altervista.org/index.php -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
