[lfs-support] usb mouse connects=disconnects repeatedly
I just finished getting my LFS 7.0 system to finally boot ok. However the usb mouse I have connected seems to be constantly disconnecting and reconnecting after the system boots, filling the screen constantly connect/disconnect messages like the following : [ 61.704062] hub 2-0:1.0: state 7 ports 2 chg evt 0004 [ 61.704081] uhci_hcd :00:1d.0: port 2 portsc 008a,00 [ 61.704095] hub 2-0:1.0: port 2, status 0100, change 0003, 12 Mb/s [ 61.704102] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, device number 2 [ 61.704192] usb 2-2: unregistering device [ 61.704197] usb 2-2: unregistering interface 2-2:1.0 [ 61.707543] usb 2-2: usb_disable_device nuking all URBs [ 61.813039] hub 2-0:1.0: debounce: port 2: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x100 [ 62.854342] hub 1-0:1.0: state 7 ports 6 chg evt 0004 [ 62.854362] ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: GetStatus port:2 status 001403 0 ACK POWER sig=k CSC CONNECT [ 62.854377] hub 1-0:1.0: port 2, status 0501, change 0001, 480 Mb/s [ 62.954027] usb usb2: suspend_rh (auto-stop) [ 62.958054] hub 1-0:1.0: debounce: port 2: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x501 [ 62.958078] ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: port 2 low speed -- companion [ 62.958111] usb usb2: wakeup_rh (auto-start) [ 63.009045] ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: GetStatus port:2 status 003002 0 ACK POWER OWNER sig=se0 CSC [ 63.009084] hub 2-0:1.0: state 7 ports 2 chg evt 0004 [ 63.009094] uhci_hcd :00:1d.0: port 2 portsc 01a3,00 [ 63.009104] hub 2-0:1.0: port 2, status 0301, change 0001, 1.5 Mb/s [ 63.113034] hub 2-0:1.0: debounce: port 2: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x301 [ 63.215036] usb 2-2: new low speed USB device number 3 using uhci_hcd [ 63.357087] usb 2-2: skipped 1 descriptor after interface [ 63.362095] usb 2-2: default language 0x0409 [ 63.377083] usb 2-2: udev 3, busnum 2, minor = 130 [ 63.377090] usb 2-2: New USB device found, idVendor=093a, idProduct=2510 [ 63.377185] usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [ 63.377270] usb 2-2: Product: USB OPTICAL MOUSE [ 63.377351] usb 2-2: Manufacturer: PIXART [ 63.377665] usb 2-2: usb_probe_device [ 63.377674] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 63.390081] usb 2-2: adding 2-2:1.0 (config #1, interface 0) [ 63.390203] usbhid 2-2:1.0: usb_probe_interface [ 63.390210] usbhid 2-2:1.0: usb_probe_interface - got id [ 63.405587] input: PIXART USB OPTICAL MOUSE as /devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.0/input/input4 [ 63.407079] generic-usb 0003:093A:2510.0002: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.11 Mouse [PIXART USB OPTICAL MOUSE] on usb-:00:1d.0-2/input0 [ 63.407268] drivers/usb/core/inode.c: creating file '003' [ 63.407784] hub 1-0:1.0: state 7 ports 6 chg evt 0004 [ 123.454091] hub 2-0:1.0: state 7 ports 2 chg evt 0004 [ 123.454110] uhci_hcd :00:1d.0: port 2 portsc 008a,00 [ 123.454125] hub 2-0:1.0: port 2, status 0100, change 0003, 12 Mb/s [ 123.454132] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, device number 3 [ 123.454223] usb 2-2: unregistering device [ 123.454227] usb 2-2: unregistering interface 2-2:1.0 [ 123.457712] usb 2-2: usb_disable_device nuking all URBs [ 123.563035] hub 2-0:1.0: debounce: port 2: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x100 [ 124.651843] hub 1-0:1.0: state 7 ports 6 chg evt 0004 [ 124.651866] ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: GetStatus port:2 status 001403 0 ACK POWER sig=k CSC CONNECT [ 124.651880] hub 1-0:1.0: port 2, status 0501, change 0001, 480 Mb/s [ 124.704026] usb usb2: suspend_rh (auto-stop) [ 124.755032] hub 1-0:1.0: debounce: port 2: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x501 [ 124.755053] ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: port 2 low speed -- companion [ 124.755085] usb usb2: wakeup_rh (auto-start) [ 124.806058] ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: GetStatus port:2 status 003002 0 ACK POWER OWNER sig=se0 CSC [ 124.806098] hub 2-0:1.0: state 7 ports 2 chg evt 0004 [ 124.806110] uhci_hcd :00:1d.0: port 2 portsc 01a3,00 [ 124.806120] hub 2-0:1.0: port 2, status 0301, change 0001, 1.5 Mb/s [ 124.910048] hub 2-0:1.0: debounce: port 2: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x301 [ 125.012033] usb 2-2: new low speed USB device number 4 using uhci_hcd [ 125.156060] usb 2-2: skipped 1 descriptor after interface [ 125.161067] usb 2-2: default language 0x0409 [ 125.176055] usb 2-2: udev 4, busnum 2, minor = 131 [ 125.176062] usb 2-2: New USB device found, idVendor=093a, idProduct=2510 [ 125.176157] usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [ 125.176242] usb 2-2: Product: USB OPTICAL MOUSE [ 125.176324] usb 2-2: Manufacturer: PIXART [ 125.176642] usb 2-2: usb_probe_device [ 125.176652] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 125.189057] usb 2-2: adding 2-2:1.0 (config #1, interface 0) [ 125.189177] usbhid 2-2:1.0: usb_probe_interface [ 125.189185] usbhid 2-2:1.0: usb_probe_interface - got id [ 125.204537] input: PIXART USB OPTICAL MOUSE as

If you want the 8859-6 locale, you can generate it: localedef -i ar_AE -f ISO-8859-6 ar_AE Check glibc-2.14.1/localedata/SUPPORTED for other locale strings supporting ISO-8859-6. One interesting thing that I did notice though is that the disconnects/re-connects occur almost exactly every 60 seconds. I am not sure what to make of that. I am hoping that someone may know how to stop this from happening. I believe the other alternative would be to turn off USB Support-USB verbose debug messages and USB announce new devices and rebuild the kernel. I believe that would at least eliminate the messages from constantly showing up. Re: [lfs-support] usb mouse connects=disconnects repeatedly
Hi Martins, ... the usb mouse I have connected seems to be constantly disconnecting and reconnecting after the system boots, filling the screen constantly connect/disconnect messages like the following ... I wouldn't chuck my mouse out the window yet. I've been plagued by these nonsensical (to me) messages for quite a long time. For additional fun I even went to the '/etc/rc.d/init.d/localnet' script and inserted a read line ... stop) log_info_msg Bringing down the loopback interface... read ip link set lo down ... Obviously after making a backup of the original file, etc. The read command forces the script to stop advancing beyond it until the user hits a key. On rebooting the machine the display will stop at this next-to-last script (the last is 'reboot') and after every minute or so I'd get a bunch of four messages similar to yours (disconnect/connect) related to my USB Microsoft mouse existence on my system I'd watch the screen rapturously for about 5-10 min. (I don't have much of a life) and then give up (hitting a key) and go to yet another productive activity. I'm truly very busy now but I remember I wrote to the guy who was responsible for the kernel input drivers (and then some) and asked about this USB phenomenon. He answered my technical question very clearly and logically. He should know. I didn't understand (or agree) too much but it made me accept the USB mouse with a smile on my face and live with it from then on. Obviously, you get to accept the situation like car alarms and other life vicissitudes but life goes on anyway. If you haven't gotten rid of your mouse and are still interested in his wise words, I might be able to publish his answer for you in a few days. I would be very interested in wise words of the person responsible for the kernel input drivers. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share them. I'd start by removing: * USB device fs (it says it's deprecated) * xHCI HCD (USB 3.0) (it says it's experimental) * USB Printer support (you're just trying to get your mouse working, right?) * USB Mass Storage support (again, just get mouse working 1st). * USB Monitor (same reason) I would also unplug everything except your keyboard mouse (everything: storage, printers, other hubs, everything else). I believe USB HID is important for keyboard mouse, too, though I couldn't tell you specifically which kernel parameters for that.
