DFS Lab

is an early-stage incubator that supports high potential entrepreneurs
refine, grow and launch fintech businesses in developing countries. Focused
on empowering communities in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, DFS Lab
delivers mentorship and strategic counsel to early-stage start-ups
pioneering transformative business models that empower the poorest,
profitably and at scale.

We give the highest quality entrepreneurs access to extensive networks
and relevant, world class advice on how to build successful ventures that
change the way low-income consumers interact with digital financial
services. Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the
initiative is housed at Caribou Digital, a specialist in building inclusive
digital economies. Learn more about DFS Lab at www.dfslab.net and follow us
on Twitter @TheDFSLab.

In April 2017, a select group of purpose-driven entrepreneurs will converge
in South Asia (country TBD) for DFS Lab’s fintech bootcamp, bringing
together smart, dynamic people who are building innovative products,
services and technologies for low-income consumers. Using the Design Sprint
Methodology
,
a process of structured brainstorming for answering critical business
questions, you will go through a workshop to design, prototype and test new
ideas. By creating quick prototypes, you can get actual feedback and see if
there’s a real potential for the solution you’ve created.

This high-intensity program provides you with the very best hands-on
support, guidance and mentoring to help bring your idea to life. The best
ideas will receive grant funding of up to USD $100K and 6 months of
additional support from the DFS Lab. The program runs for 5 days and
includes flights, healthy meals, accommodation and fun!

We are looking for two-person teams who wish to launch a company or very
early stage startups with less than USD $100K investment to date who wants
to send two co-founders to our bootcamp. Your startup's vision should be to
create an innovative new technology to address one of DFS Lab's priority
areas.

Check out a video of our previous bootcamp
experience in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

If you are passionate about solving problems faced by low-income consumers
and believe you have what it takes, learn more and apply now

We're thrilled to announce that New Media Mentors is launching a new
program called the *Digital Academy*
*.
*The Academy offers master classes on digital skills and best practices to
help organizations mobilize and build power.

*New Media Mentors
*,
a partnership with Netroots Nation, works with nonprofits to help them
supercharge their digital programs and win campaigns. New Media Mentors
supports a learn-by-doing model, where concepts and strategy are applied
directly to live projects going on in the participant's work. The academy
pairs digital workshops with one-on-one mentoring sessions, allowing time
for the participant to go deeper into technique and implementation.

Our session for the Winter courses include:

*Digital Advocacy and Engagement

supporters and members at a time when digital and legislative advocacy and
mobilization is critical.

nor a US-only phenomenon.
It's just one more trait of a "marketing society."

too bad Aaron Hillel Swartz was "suicided" for trying to open those vaults, but
fortunately this particular text is freely available on the internet, pick your

As someone who doesn't live in the US, I find this whole "fake news" issue
somehow confusing.

It seems to me that it's a very wide concept created by media like The
Guardian, NYT, etc., in order to discredit certain efforts by Trump supporters
to influence voters based on false information (social media profiles, online
articles, etc.). However, as time goes by, I see fake news coming out more and
more from that same left-wing propaganda machine with misinformation,
highly-biased pieces and more often than not, blatantly false reports.

What are the first public mentions of this controversial concept in the press?
Perhaps that would give me a bit more of light.
