Then print bt full in gdb to see previous frames, if the break is not
called you may want to reconsider your hypothesis :)

Are we using SimpleReferenceObject correctly?

2013-01-27 Thread Henrik /KaarPoSoft

Dear all,

As described in the mailing-list-thread
Issues building LibreOffice 4.0.0.1
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2013-January/044838.html
I am trying to build and package LibreOffice 4.0.0.* for KaarPux
http://kaarpux.kaarposoft.dk/

I am starting a new mailing-list thread here to try to address
one issue at a time.

With LibreOffice 4.0.0.2, Stephans patch
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=d71e8fb17bd008751909ef2fabc6ff4f1e2db187
no other pathes and the configuration attached as config.txt
building is now stuck at
[build LNK] Library/libmysqllo.so
with
undefined reference to 'typeinfo for salhelper::SimpleReferenceObject'

See attached libmysqllo_lnk_error.txt

googel'ing the error message tends to indicate a problem with virtual
functions.

salhelper/inc/salhelper/simplereferenceobject.hxx has

class SALHELPER_DLLPUBLIC SimpleReferenceObject
{
[...]
protected:
virtual ~SimpleReferenceObject() SAL_THROW(());
[...]
};

I am no C++ expert, but as far as I can tell, this makes
SimpleReferenceObject an abstract class, and subclasses
should declare and implement ~SimpleReferenceObject.

A simple grep shows that we have ORowSetValueDecorator defined in
places like
connectivity/inc/connectivity/inc/FValue.hxx

And as far as I can see, ORowSetValueDecorator does NOT
declare ~ORowSetValueDecorator

Grepping for other uses of SimpleReferenceObject turns up many
references, and I picked one at random:
xmloff/inc/xmloff/formlayerimport.hxx

Here we have

class XMLOFF_DLLPUBLIC OFormLayerXMLImport
:public ::salhelper::SimpleReferenceObject
{
OFormLayerXMLImport_Impl*   m_pImpl;

public:
OFormLayerXMLImport(SvXMLImport _rImporter);
~OFormLayerXMLImport();

So, the subclass here DOES implement
~SimpleReferenceObject
as
~OFormLayerXMLImport()

As I am certainly no C++ expert, please allow me to ask this
question to the list:

Are we using SimpleReferenceObject correctly?
In particular, maybe we should define
~SimpleReferenceObject
in all subclasses ?

Thanks in advance for any input on this.

/Henrik

Cppcheck: bContainsDate not read in templateremoteview.cxx (sfx2)

2013-01-27 Thread julien2412
Hello,

Cppcheck detected this:
sfx2/source/control/templateremoteview.cxx
129 unreadVariable style Variable 'bContainsDate' is assigned a value
that
is never used.

Here are the lines:
124 bool bContainsDate = !xRow-wasNull();
125
126 if ( !bContainsDate )
127 {
128 aDT = xRow-getTimestamp( ROW_DATE_CREATE );
129 bContainsDate = !xRow-wasNull();
130 }

see
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sfx2/source/control/templateremoteview.cxx#116

Should line 129 just be removed or bContainsDate should be used in some way
or bContainsDate shouldn't be a new variable for each while loop?

Julien

[Libreoffice-commits] Changes to 'feature/bplustree'

2013-01-27 Thread Libreoffice Gerrit user
New branch 'feature/bplustree' available with the following commits:
commit bfd8ba2869dacd0d6881332e7ab2e9d2f4597af6
Author: Jan Holesovsky ke...@suse.cz
Date: Sun Jan 27 23:51:27 2013 +0100

B+ tree: Experimenting with replacement of BigPtrArray.

The BigPtrArray implementation does not seem to be entirely optimal from the
data structure point of view. Let's experiment with a drop-in replacement
using a B+ tree (not B-tree!) that seems to be much more fit for the
purpose -
it nicely handles holes in the indices (ie. does not eat your entire memory
if
you insert just one entry at 100), and allows traversing all the data in
O(n).

From reading the code, I believe these were the only requirements for
BigPtrArray. Eg. seeing that BigPtrArray::Insert() can lead to copying of
the
entire content of the BlockInfo array makes me feel a bit dizzy. Other
aspects of BigPtrArray remind of a naive B+ tree (without the actual tree)
implementation, see eg. BigPtrArray::Index2Block() and its binary search.

The other advantage is that if the B+ tree implementation works (ie.
compares
well with BigPtrArray from the performance point of view), I believe it will
allow larger update of the entire Writer core, mainly in the area of undo,
redo, and change tracking - via copy-on-write, and remembering the entire B+
trees (with most of the metadata + data shared).

This commit only copies the BigPtrArray API to a new header. The
implementation itself will reuse no code from BigPtrArray.

IIWY I'd insert a break-point thus:

inlined (as static 's tend to be) which usually confuses gdb nicely ;-)

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Stagnant NEEDINFO bugs

2013-01-27 Thread Marc Paré

Hi Joel,

If you are asking our opinion on these ...

Le 2013-01-26 17:22, Joel Madero a écrit :

Hi All,

During our last QA call we came up with a plan for NEEDINFO bugs that
have been stagnant for 6+ months. I've decided to remove this from the
minutes because there are some concerns about the agreement that was
made. It was requested that we have a discussion through a thread about
what we should do about these bugs.

Let's try to keep this thread moving and organized so we can make a
decision once and for all. Goal should be to minimize flare ups from
users while keeping in mind that our long term QA goal is to get FDO
organized, accurate and under control.

With that, I'll let the thread move forward :-D

Options: (feel free to add)

a) Leave them alone, accept that most will just sit in NEEDINFO forever

b) Automate a reminder for these bugs and leave it at that, if it
doesn't lead to anything, so be it, leave the bugs alone

c) a reminder + automated closing of bug after some period of time

d) a 3 strikes type system - send one reminder, a month later send a
second with a warning the bug will be closed, then close the bug

These are the options that come to mind.

Best Regards,
Joel

P.S. Florian - please hold off on writing something about our previous
agreement until we reach some consensus here.

+1 for d) BUT make it a real 3 strikes. one reminder, a month later
send another reminder, a month later send the last reminder with a
warning that the bug will be closed in one month.

The 3-strikes concept is understandable to most people and I believe the
submitter would be more understanding if the bug were closed. It also
gives more than an abundant amount of time to fill out the missing
details of the bug -- from start to end would take 4 months. This would
hopefully quiet the noise from disgruntled submitters and allow QA
people enough time to get to them if they find some of them important
enough for a closer look. Hopefully most of these would be taken care in
shorter amount of time.

Cheers,

Marc

doing the command line /A administrative installation?

Administrative installation just extracts the embedded CAB file onto
the disk in the right folder structure. It does not write anything to
registry. WRITEREGISTRY property has no effect.

And other than adjusting the *UserInstallation=* location of the
program\bootstrap.ini file so as to not clobber the existing user
profile--the administrative install becomes the working parallel
installation? Does the system default language become the language of the
administrative install? Or does it always remain 1033, en-US?

AFAIK default language selection happens at first start.

Couldn't LibreOffice program features and alternate languages be configured
and applied against the administrative install using a .MST transform file?
And how complicated would that have to be to end up with a usable alternate
installation--not needing to run the recast .MSI located in the
 administrative install's folder.

If I understand correctly, you would like to test custom
installations, where not all features are present, parallel. I don't
know, how to do that right. One option is to manually delete files
that belong to a given feature. I don't know how to manipulate
administrative images with MST files.

I tried to find a problem with 3.6.5.2 in Sample 2012-10-12 09:45 UTC, Roman
Schleicher by opening the document and a copy in ad 4.0.0.2 (to compare the
behavior.

Steps how to reproduce (do steps parallel in both versions):

0. Launch LibO
1. Open Sample document from Start Center
In both documents caret flashed in front of Sehr geehrte
2. Move mouse pointer to Word Betreff between TR
In both documents mouse pointer view changes to Hand
3. Mouse click
Expected (as in 4.0): Place holder field becomes selected, typing some
letters
will replace the placeholder by your text
Actual (With 3.5.6.2): you can't access elements in top margin and bottom
margin area (even if they also are in left margin or right margin area).

So [Reproducible] with Server Installation of LibreOffice 3.6.5.2 rc German
UI/ German Locale [Build-ID: 5b93205] {pull date 2013-01-18} on German WIN7

I think I already am involved in a Bug concerning at least very similar effects
(if I remember correctly it was about Drawing elements like shapes), I will
need a little time to find that one and to check whether this one is a DUP or
only shows similar symptoms.

--- Comment #24 from Rainer Bielefeld libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de ---
I also used ma simple sample document for tests concerning Bug 54453 -
EDITING: Impossible to draw shapes in top margin or bottom margin. That one
also appeared between 3.6.0.4 and 3.6.2.1, so I think the suspect that these
bugs have common roots (or are DUPs) is appropriate.

I'm a little worried concerning Bug 50195 - EDITING: Can't Select Image in
Header when outside margins, what seems related, but already appeared with
3.5.
But I think we should try to fix all these effects wihtin 1 fix session.

reproducible with WIN version

1. open attahched sample document
You can't edit
When You click icon Edit File in Standard Toolbar you will be asked for
 Password
2. Save document under new name
Expected: PW protection for edits persists
   Actual: Document editable

To be honest, I am not sure whether I understand this PW protection correctly.
Help tells very general: Undoing password protection: To remove a password,
open the document, then save without password.

So the observed behavior might be intended, but such a function would be
completely useless. When I decide that nobody should be able to edit a document
except people who know the PW, it's not acceptable that that protection can be
bypassed so easily. There seems no real difference to Open write Protection,
the current PW Edit protection seems rather useless to me.

Already the same with LibO 3.3.3, I think this never worked as I expect.

But to impose a paragraph after a two-columns section is not good if you want
to end your document with this two-columns section : you will loose a line.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59902] (regression): LibreOffice does not warn when opening a .sdw or .sdc file, therefore imports crap

2013-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59902

--- Comment #4 from Gerry gerry.trep...@googlemail.com ---
In the original bug entry, I did not see any list of filters, but the binary
file just got imported as ASCII text to Writer, which - of course - doesn't
make sense. Hence I did some more testing:

Situation A: If you open the file from the LibreOffice StartCentre, then you
are pointed to a list of filters to choose from.

Situation B: If you open Writer and choose File - Open you do not get any
list of filters, but the binary file directly imports as ASCII file, which
results in a bunch of crap.

In both situations, there is no dummy filter or warning for the user that the
old StarOffice filters were removed and a hint what the user shall do.

I marked it as a regression for two reasons:
First, according to Michael there was a dummy filter (I assume in previous test
releases) which is not there now.
Second, the import of the binary StarOffice file as ASCII is a regression over
any previous version.

(In reply to comment #0)

I can reproduce it also with 32bit versions.

The last working relase is 3.5.4(reported ubuntu 12.04) with Openjdk 1.6 with
following packages installed:

ca-certificates-java (20110912ubuntu6)
default-jre (1:1.6-43ubuntu2)
default-jre-headless (1:1.6-43ubuntu2)
icedtea-6-jre-cacao (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)
icedtea-6-jre-jamvm (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)
icedtea-netx (1.2-2ubuntu1.3)
icedtea-netx-common (1.2-2ubuntu1.3)
java-common (0.43ubuntu2)
libatk-wrapper-java (0.30.4-0ubuntu2)
libatk-wrapper-java-jni (0.30.4-0ubuntu2)
libreoffice-java-common (1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1)
libreoffice-zemberek (1.0~rc2-10.3ubuntu1)
libxerces2-java (2.11.0-4)
libxml-commons-external-java (1.4.01-2)
libxml-commons-resolver1.1-java (1.2-7)
libzemberek-java (2.1.1-8)
libzemberek-tr-java (2.1.1-8)
openjdk-6-jre (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)
openjdk-6-jre-headless (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)
openjdk-6-jre-lib (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)
ttf-dejavu-extra (2.33-2ubuntu1)
tzdata-java (2012e-0ubuntu0.12.04.1)

With Java 1.7 12.04 has the same issue.

We think that it is something about a change in 3.5.x and 3.6.x series
regarding to something about Java and need assitance as currently we cannot use
the Zemberek Spell Checker in any Linux distro which have this new released of
Java and LO.

--- Comment #6 from Joren De Cuyper joren.libreoff...@telenet.be ---
(In reply to comment #4)
In the original bug entry, I did not see any list of filters, but the
binary file just got imported as ASCII text to Writer, which - of course -
doesn't make sense. Hence I did some more testing:

Situation A: If you open the file from the LibreOffice StartCentre, then you
are pointed to a list of filters to choose from.

Situation B: If you open Writer and choose File - Open you do not get
any list of filters, but the binary file directly imports as ASCII file,
which results in a bunch of crap.
I can confirm that behavior.

In both situations, there is no dummy filter or warning for the user that
the old StarOffice filters were removed and a hint what the user shall do.

I marked it as a regression for two reasons:
First, according to Michael there was a dummy filter (I assume in previous
test releases) which is not there now.
I agree with that point of view. But I don't know for sure it ever worked.
Based on what Michael said I'll indeed mark this as a regression.

Therefore I mark this bug as a regression (in the keywords) and then I can
delete it also from the title.
Second, the import of the binary StarOffice file as ASCII is a regression
 over any previous version.
I'm absolutely not familiar with that, so I can't confirm this due my lack of
experience for this :-).

Following [1] I can't decide which priority to set this bug report. I'll try to
discuss this with another experienced QA member.

Please don't close, I suspect this is still a bug, but I will test it again
 when I get the chance.

I'm sorry our system closed this bug. Because of the fact the bug status was
still 'NEEDINFO' and had a long time no response, we closed your bug.

I put myself in the QA field and will build --with-oooblogger next time
(probably today or otherwise one of following days).

Also I change the component to 'extensions'.

Thanks for reporting and our excuses for this discomfort.

--- Comment #1 from Joren De Cuyper joren.libreoff...@telenet.be ---
Thanks for reporting and your clear steps!

I can't reproduce this behavior using LibreOffice 4.0.0.2 rc2 and master build
Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: f1bca26afcc7593d0124c216c0400a9e2e47fc1).
Both tested using Linux Mint 14 x64.

I also can't reproduce this behavior using oldest version possible to bibisect
using 'bibisect40' (= LibreOffice 3.5.0 Build ID: d6cde02).

So:
1) OS specific bug (windows only?). I can't reproduce using Linux Mint 14
2) I did make some faults following your steps
3) bug was a 3.5 bug only
4) ...

To narrow down the possibilities: is this still reproducible using 3.6 (and if
possible to test 4.0)?

Thanks for your time retesting.
Kind regards,
Joren

Thanks for your fast answer.

I now can see what you mean with the the lost formatting.

I'll attach a pdf I created with LibreOffice 4.0.0.2 rc2. There you can indeed
conclude that it is a linux only problem so far.

Behavior: the 'y' and '160' is in LO 4.0 and Word for Mac using Mac OSX 10.8.2
placed at left and right of the table cell. When I open this using LO 4.0.0.2
rc2 using Linux Mint 14 they are 'centered'.

Following [1] I mark this bug as 'medium' 'normal' because this does prevent
you making high quality work; but doesn't resolve in data loss/crash/freeze
etc. Also it is not impossible to open the whole doc, just a loss of
formatting.

I change also component to 'filters'

You can download per chapter from this site:

I can confirm that. If you go to libreoffice.org you can click on 'get-help'

place/hard-to-find place this documentation.
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/

Also I think there is a good link to the link posted in Comment 1:

Sigh. Yes I'll add a backtrace, though this does require downloading 650MB of
libreoffice-dbg packagaes which installs to 3.5GB of disk space.

May I recommend that detailed backtraces are included as part of the standard
LibreOffice installation? This will make bug reporting *much* less of a hurdle.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59932] New: FILEOPEN: Text boxes with bulleted lists containing wrapped text resize when re-opening saved .pptx format

2013-01-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 59932
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: Text boxes with bulleted lists containing
wrapped text resize when re-opening saved .pptx format
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: michael.bro...@onleygroup.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.2.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 73731
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=73731action=edit
Slide with four text boxes originally in a two-by-two arrangement, now
malaligned.

Problem description:
When saving a LibreOffice Impress file as .pptx for compatibility, text boxes
containing bullets are ruined. On reopening the file, any text boxes with
wrapped text are shown with their horizontal dimension extended so that there
is no longer any wrapped text. The text boxes therefore render with their left
border far leftwards from their original position, ruining the slide layout.

Also, the bullets in these text boxes render as an empty square (no known
character) instead of their original bullet character.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an existing PPTx document created by MS PowerPoint (document renders
correctly initally)
2. Add a few slides, and add some text boxes to the slide. Create a bulleted
list with enough text in at least one of the lines so that it wraps onto
another line.
3. Save the document in .pptx compatibility.
4. Reopen the document and navigate to the slide you created.
5. Marvel at how your corporate presentation has been totally obliterated!
6. Wonder why you ever thought ditching MS Office and embracing FLOSS office
packages was a good idea...

Current behavior:
- Text boxes with wrapped text become horizontally enlarged so that no more
text wrapping occurs.
- Bullet point characters are forgotten and render as empty squares.

Expected behavior:
- Text boxes retain the size and position that the user told them to be
- Bullet point lists retain the bullet point characters that were selected by
the user
- Wrapped lines stay wrapped

--- Comment #2 from Jean-Baptiste Faure jbf.fa...@sud-ouest.org ---
If I launch LibreOffice 4.0.0.2 in gdb, I get the following error message:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x74b84c00 in svt::RoadmapItem::ToggleBackgroundColor(Color const) ()
   from /opt/libreoffice4.0/program/libsvtlo.so

Idem for LO 4.0.1.0+

Best regards. JBF

Sample with more placehaolders

This sample with more objects shows that the first character after object
replaced problem also is visible for the other object types, but those work
