How about installing it in a different directory in parallel? You can do it
with the exact same version, the details are in comment 1. The wiki page in
whole describes the process, and that particular step makes sure its profile is
also stored separately.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105761] New: it takes longer time to open documents from file explorer

2017-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105761

Bug ID: 105761
Summary: it takes longer time to open documents from file
explorer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lili...@gmail.com

Description:
After update to LibreOffice 5.3, it takes longer time to open documents from
Nautilus file explorer (Ubuntu 16.04) than in previous versions (comparing to
previous version and comparing to time for starting the libreoffice and then
opening the file). In case of some documents, LibreOffice does not manage to
open it.

I tried to restart profile, to disable Hardware accelerator and to increase
memory in View -> Memory settings but it didn't help.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Nautilus File explorer while all LibreOffice windows are closed
2. Select LibreOffice document to open
3. Wait

Actual Results:
It takes longer to open the document. I compare it to my previous experiences
(in LibreOffice 5.2. as well as to the time it takes to start the libreoffice
and then to open the file). Some documents are not opened and I am forced to
close LibreOffice by sending so called "kill signal".

Expected Results:
It takes the same time as in previous versions or even faster.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
[Information automatically included from LibreOffice]
Locale: en-US
Module: TextDocument
[Information guessed from browser]
OS: Linux (All)
OS is 64bit: yes
Builds ID: LibreOffice 5.3.0.3

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like

Buovjaga, can you check it again? For me steps 1-2 don't work even in 3.3.0. Or
rather, have the same result as described in the report.

Step 3 should go in a separate report and be set to enhancement, right?

Two commits have influenced how the preview looks here.
The first commit added toolbar buttons above the table in the preview (probably
by accident), then the second one didn't remove them completely, and resulted
in the current look.

OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

otc.gotoRange(ovc,false)

Dim wc
wc=0

While otc.gotoPreviousWord(true)
wc = wc + 1

Thank you for your reply.

I found that my default web-browser setting had been failure and that caused
such unexpected situation.
I fixed the setting and "Get Help Online" can launch my web browser.
I'm sorry, it was not a bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105758] New: Writer 5.3.0.3 Truncates Alphabetical Index Entries

2017-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105758

Bug ID: 105758
Summary: Writer 5.3.0.3 Truncates Alphabetical Index Entries
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: libretraining.tutori...@gmail.com

Description:
Writer 5.3.0.3 truncates Alphabetical Index entries by deleting the last
character in the term.

I have been working on an Index in a long document using Writer 5.2.5.1.
I modified the default index format to conform to well known style manuals.

The entries should look like this:
Access2Base, 1
LibreOffice, 2

Instead they look like this:
Access2Bas, 1
LibreOffic, 2

It works correctly in Writer 5.2.5.1.
It does NOT work correctly in Writer 5.3.0.3.

Attached is a demo document.
The document is simply one paragraph with some index terms marked, and two
indexes inserted below - upper index has the default settings, the lower index
has been modified by deleting the [T} (tab) and entering instead ", " (comma
space).

Open the demo document in Writer 5.2.5.1 and refresh both indexes.
- Default index format works
- Modified format works

Open the demo document in Writer 5.3.0.1 and refresh both indexes.
- Default index format works
- Modified format does NOT work - truncates the last character of each term

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert an Alphabetical Index
2. Modify Alphabetical Index default format.
3. Delete the [T] (tab) and enter ", " (comma space)
4. Save
5. Update the index

Actual Results:
The expected results are an index where the terms are not missing the last
character.

Expected Results:
Truncated index terms.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No. Does not appear relevant.

Additional Info:
This was all working fine in recent Writer v5.2.x.x versions.
The problem appeared with the update to Writer v5.3.0.3.

The index format I am using is the format recommended in both The Chicago
Manual of Style, and The Oxford Guide to Style.

So I would say it is fairly important that this works properly in Writer.

Boaz, kivi, what kind of GPU are you using?

Could either of you test with a recent daily build from [1]? There's been a
recent bug with the initialization of OpenGL mode in LibreOffice (bug 105514),
which is now fixed (the fix will come in 5.3.1). To verify, grab a daily build
and test with that, it can be installed separately from the current version,
the details are linked in comment 1. Thanks!

Calc Correctly Imports Charts with Text Boxes

The missing label is actually an embedded Text Box in the Chart Element.

Calc correctly imports this kind of chart. This is a Writer only bug.

The attached file was made by copying the bug doc from Word to Excel and
changing the Text Box's content to make it clear that it's not a data label.

I reproduce on an ENGLISH version of windows 10 with a Hebrew keyboard
Installed. A misspelled Hebrew word causes libreoffice to hang for several long
moments, opening the 'Spelling and grammar' dialog results in a long wait and
sometimes a crash.

Misspelled English word even long ones are processed instantly without any
delay.

All this with libreoffice 5.3.

After starting with the --safe-mode switch and manually disabling hw
acceleration and OpenCL, LO starts!

Although GL status in safe mode was "GL is currently disabled" and "OpenCL is
not used".
So maybe the problematic option is Software Interpreter of OpenCL?

This "smoothing" is not so much a bug, as it is a feature which provides the
user with the ability to draw smooth curves. As the drawing toolbar (and its
tools) are designed primarily for drawing, and not handwriting, I'd recommend
finding a different solution. If this is something that you feel belongs in
Libreoffice, feel free to submit a feature request. (I'd recommend going to
https://ask.libreoffice.org/ and submitting a question with the feature-request
tag.)

Disable these tiled comment rendering related tests

We have enabled LOK_FEATURE_NO_TILED_ANNOTATIONS flag already
in Kit.cpp, which means these tests, which assume comments are
rendered as tiles, are no longer relevant, so lets disable them
for now. Surely sometime in future they would completely be
removed and replaced by new tests that assume comments are *not*
rendered in tiles and rather are added/modified/removed by using
comments API. See LOK_CALLBACK_COMMENT for details.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87648] 'Spelling' or 'Spelling and Grammar'

2017-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87648

Of the two UNO commands found in toolbars, menus and .UI,
uno:SpellingAndGrammarDialog is unique to the sw Writer module.

It alone includes the option to toggle the Grammar check active if supported.

The uno:SpellDialog is resident in the other modules.

I have not read through the two modules to identify the differences, but assume
addition of the Grammar check support for Writer requires the unique UNO
command.

However, I would agree with removing the "and Grammar" from the dialog title
and associated command label, and make them all consistently "Spelling", or
"Spell Check", or "Spell Checker" across the UI for all dialogs, menus and
toolbar entires.

Agree with Jay that we do not gain anything by distinguishing the
uno:SpellDialog from the uno:SpellingAndGramarDialog in our
labeling--availibility of the Grammar checker will depend on which UNO command
is associated with the control.

In future if Grammar Check can be implemented for sd or sc modules then we
would change the associated UNO command(s) keeping the same labeling.

When drawing curves with the Curve tool in Libreoffice Writer (LO 5.3
Symbolleiste > Zeichnen) or inside LibreOffice Draw, the resulting Bezier curve
ist smoothed to such an extend, that is nearly impossible to use this tool for
free handwriting, e.g. with an interactive Beamer or a tablet with pen control.

Is it possible, to implement an configuration option to control this automatic
smoothing behaviour or to change the default settings to a more handwriting
friendly level?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Draw a freehand line with a pen with the curve tool in Writer or Draw
Handwritten Letters will be automatically smoothed so the become unreadeble

Actual Results:

Summary: Notebookbar does not update icon style until restart
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jbi...@ubuntu.com

Seen on LibreOffice 5.0.0.3 x64 on Windows 10 and today's LibreOffice Dev I
compiled on Ubuntu 17.04 Alpha amad64.

1. Select Tools>Options
2. In Advanced, Make sure "Enable experimental features" is checked.
3. Restart LibreOffice
4. Select View>Toolbar Layout>Notebookbar
5. Select Tools>Options
6. In View, change the "Icon Style"

What Happens

The Notebookbar keeps the old "Icon Style" until LibreOffice is restarted.

But the traditional Toolbar Layouts pick up the new icon style without needing
a restart.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105618] Weaknesses in creating Bézier curve

2017-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105618

I don't know which component it should be. It is a problem in the UI of Draw,
Impress and Writer. Calc has the additional problem, that the "Edit Points"
toolbar does not exist. Therefore in Calc it is possible to draw a Bézier curve
and to switch to point edit mode, but you cannot alter the Bézier curve
properties.

Since there is a clear link/similarity often between global and file options,
my current take is not to put them in different places/dialogs.

I'm quite sure there are issues (or comments in issues) mentioning this very
problem. What about a [META]* ?

V Stuart Foote changed:

@Jay, *

Agree, differentiating between the current document and a global default should
be provided.

But not clear that it must be done in the Tools -> Options panels.

I would counter it could be done from the File menu as a new Options or
Document Settings dialog, or possibly via an expanded File -> Properties
dialog.

Believe it would be the same amount of work creating the new commands and
reworking a cleaner UI to make it obvious what is applied "to current document"
versus the "general settings applied as default".

Removing current document settings from Tools -> Options achieves that
explicitly.

Then functionally, while a bit complex, we would probably want to provide
optional linkage some (or all) values set for the current document as new
default(s) in the general setting(s).

So lets make this bug fix the main issue from the bug description, as i'm for
that.

Probably we could change the labels from exact point values to size values like
extra thin, thin, small, medium, large, extra large. But the custom line width
field would most definitely need to be fixed.

From an a11y perspective, opening and selecting a value in the popup causes
focus to go to an unknown location in the sidebar and i cant tab to the next
field and only alt+tab twice gets the control focus again, so i would be in
favour of replacing the control is a standard drop down list. @Alex, @Brandon,
@Stuart: What's is your take on this?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105753] New: Frames and grafics switch from right to left and left to right

2017-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105753

Bug ID: 105753
Summary: Frames and grafics switch from right to left and left
to right
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: psch...@foni.net

Created attachment 130902
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=130902=edit
Document with the problem/bug.

I developed a document-template for A4-documents. They will be printed as a
book on duplex print.

There is a main-text-columne on the inner side of the page and with 1 cm
distance a columne of 4,5 cm on the outer side of the page - for pictures and
additional text.

Problem: In the template of the grafics and the Frames I activated the option
"mirror on even pages" - but sometimes the frames or grafics jump on the wrong
side of the page. They should be always on the inner side, but aome of them
jump on the outer side.

Perhaps this is ab bug, isn't it?

In the attached document you can see the bug on the picture with the
bycicle-gear on page 4. The same thing concerns sometimes frames with text
inside.

kind regards, PS

QtCreator IDE integration

2017-02-04 Thread Bjoern Michaelsen
Hi Michel, Maxim, Armin, Peter, all,

Tobias (in CC) approached me before the "LibreOffice & IDEs" talk and asked if
there was any feedback in using QtCreator as an IDE for LibreOffice.

I see you have committed to the QtCreatorIntegrationGenerator so I assume you
know about some of the challenges and painpoints. Is there anything we could
use hints or help from Tobias to make QtCreatorIntegrationGenerator
easier/better?

If so, this is your chance to speak up now! ;)

Best,

Bjoern

Additionally to the user defined palette and to recent colors that both work
now perfectly, it is possible to add more palettes via extension. This change
was done intentionally, as Jay commented.
