Week 4 - update

2022-07-09 Thread Hannah Meeks
Hi,

This week I tried to add the Space...Auto methods to ParagraphFormat in
XParagraphFormat.idl
Had some problems with this in the end understanding what to do when the
property was not defined, also the macros in word didn't behave as expected
from the msdn documentation so ended up not focusing on this too much - but
can come back to another week.

I also tried to make a test framework to sw/qa/core/macros-test.cxx looking
at the working tests for excel in sc/qa/extras/vba-macros-test.cxx in order
to test my macros, this took significantly more time than expected because
it took me some time to understand the code and some of the tests don't
seem to actually do anything - blank macros (testVba (Macro1))! Had some
problems with return values in running the tests and there seems to be a
problem with print statements running in the basic macros when testing
which stopped the function after the print had executed with no
warning/exception.

Tried to improve some of the macros testing by changing the filing method
so that the file extensions were included in the file name instead of being
separated - this should help add my docm macros - in order to do this I had
to have a look at std::u16string_view with some misteps.

Also experimented with making some more test macros for XParagraphFormat
and XTable which should ultimately help identify bugs/gaps in the code to
fix.

Next week I will try to get some of my tests to work and will add my new
macros to test these objects as well as looking more at XFind.

Next Problem I can't solve is with macros tests passing OK and then failing
on exit with no helpful message -
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/136944 - will chat to mentors but
any help appreciated

Hannah

2022-07-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149932

I found a partial workaround for this problem, see:

https://github.com/ibus/ibus/issues/2420#issuecomment-1179340110

First, the libreoffice-kf5 needs to be installed, on Fedora it can be installed
like this:

sudo dnf install libreoffice-kf5

Then set this environment variable before starting libreoffice:

export SAL_USE_VCL_PLUGIN=kf5

and then start libreoffice:

oowriter &

Now switching off the underline works as you can see in the video:

(The “Low” underline makes a dotted underline, the “Double” underline looks the
same as the “Single” underline, but “None” does indeed show no underline at all
with export SAL_USE_VCL_PLUGIN=kf5)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149932] New: When using ibus input methods, the underlining style set by the input method is ignored in the gtk3 backend.

2022-07-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 149932
Summary: When using ibus input methods, the underlining style
set by the input method is ignored in the gtk3
backend.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: maiku.fab...@gmail.com

Created attachment 181198
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=181198=edit
Video showing that the setting for the underlining of the preedit has no effect
on libreoffice. See gedit for comparison in the video, in other programs like
gedit it works.

Using libreoffice-writer-7.3.4.2-1.fc36.x86_64 on Fedora 36.

See attached video using the ibus engine “ibus-typing-booster”: The video shows
that the underlining style is honoured by gedit but not by libreoffice.

(ibus-typing-booster is just an example, there are other ibus engines which
support different settings for the underline style of the preedit, none of them
works, the preedit in libreoffice is *always* underline with a single, solid
underline).

Yes, nothing else than the labels are saved.

Indeed this "worked" in the past due to duplication.

However, since here we only have a single Formula object, we could fix this in

As mentioned earlier, can you provide the exact URL that gives 404?

Looking at

Lord knows how the style got there. If I delete it, save the document, exit
Writer then on relaunch of the document there is Character_20_style back again.
Most annoying.

Point is this was happening before version 7.4.0.0

2022-07-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 149930
Summary: Pasting multiple lines into a Writer table should
paste across rows, like Calc
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j...@joshtriplett.org

Description:
I often need to paste multiple lines of text into multiple rows of cells in a
Writer table. Currently, in order to do so, I open Calc, paste there (which
brings up a dialog that lets me split the paste across multiple rows), and then
copy the resulting cells and paste into Writer. I'd like to have the same
functionality when pasting directly into Writer.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a Writer table with multiple rows.
2. Copy multiple lines of text. For instance, use `seq 1 10` in a terminal and
copy the resulting 10 lines.
3. Paste into a cell of the Writer table.

Actual Results:
All of the lines ended up in one table cell.

Expected Results:
The lines should be spread across multiple rows, one row per line.

On pc Debian testing x86-64 with master sources updated today + Postgresql

Here are the steps I did:
- launched Base
- clicked "connect to an existing database"
- chose "PostgreSQL"
- for DBMS, I put:
host=127.0.0.1 dbname=test_db
- filled "User name"
- etc.
=> file created
- clicked on "Tables"
- clicked on "Create Table in Design View..."
- Field Name => id / Field Type => Integer [int4]
- clicked "Save" icon
=> dialog appeared asking schema + Table Name
- chose schema "public" and "test" for table name
=> dialog appeared asking "Should a primary key be created now?"
- clicked "Yes"
=> No crash

Did you do something different from my step by step process?
Do you use direct connection to Postgresql or JDBC?

No, the pdfium base "Insert as image" renders the barcodes correctly to
document canvas (must first split the 2nd page from the PDF, i.e. PDFtk or
similar).

Though, on break of the image on canvas it does loose any barcode graphic
sense.

As LibreOffice is *not* a PDF editor, lack of import code to render a "barcode"
formatted drawing object seems pretty trivial. As an image it is fully
supported.

IMHO this goes => NAB

But then modifying the pdfio to use the ZXing libs to render various "QR" and
"barcode" 3D/2D codes into Draw shape objects on canvas seems a valid
enhancement request.

FormulaLocal parses every given text (formula) in the users native UI language
in bool ScDocFunc::SetCellText and this process needs time, since it will be
done every time.

Could we extend ScInputStringType ScStringUtil::parseInputString to get the
correct local format to avoid scanning it over and over again?

Or we could avoid the parsing of the inputr string if it is a formula?

Have tested this with a path name like this:
file:///home/robby/Dokumente/Datenbanken/Sportverein/Neuer%20Ordner/%C3%9Cber%20den%20Wolken/calc%20%3F%20noch%20mehr/Calc_Adress.ods

There are spaces, one "Ü" and a "?" in the path. Path is a little bit longer
than path, which doesn't work as reported.

I have created a file for mail merge in this path. I could execute the mail
merge without any problem. Data were found and set in Writer document.
So I shut down LO, restart the whole system, restart LO and tried again. Again
no problem while executing mail merge.

Tested all with OpenSUSE 15.3 64bit rpm Linux.

Bug needs to be reproducible.
To ask you to attach that ODS here is too early.
You should try to solve yourself, but write what you tried.

1. We don't know how you re-register ODS, is it via Edit - Exchange database?
2. Move ODS to TEFL folder and re-register it.
3. Try to rename 'user' profile folder where LO is.
4. If you still have a problem, try to recreate the problem using in-built
Bibliography database, create and attach ODT with those fields.

The path exists, but the folder names contain spaces which have been filled
with the characters %20 and accented characters have been rendered as %C3A9.

Is it possible that the code is unable to cope with a long path name? I know
long file names can sometimes cause issues, and certain special characters such
as question marks in a file or folder name can mess up backups etc.

Don't know your "redmine".
Obviously 7.4.-4.2.beta2 was canceled, but the respecive date-field in
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/7.4 was colored green the same
way as if the second beta version was provided for download. That's against my
